Vale Giuseppe! Your passing is sad news. I will always remember you when my crusades armies do battle.

This Youtube channel is fascinating. It uses art to give CGI face to the ancients and just adds to the imagination when you consider the little tin men we push around. I hope you enjoy it. Real FacesCheers Jim

Hi Derek.
By convention, players usually show their armies before dicing for aggression and terrain (see Tony Aguilar's videos). But this not specified in the rules. It doesn't matter for the defender as they choose the terrain and deploy first. But as you illustrate, it matters for the invader. Maybe a more historical approach would be for each player to secretly list their army before dicing and the invader then declares their elements on deployment? This would also lend itself to scouting house rules etc.
Cheers

If he's early Nubian, is he wearing an animal skin with tail left intentionally? I mean people still wear leopard prints for effect!

Now I've been tempted by ECW for some time. Firstly, Eureka came out with some beautiful miniatures. Now we have this offering from Steel Fist: Steel Fist ECWHopefully Tony A keeps making videos for if he ever upgraded DBA-RRR then I would be unable to resist! Cheers Jim I think you are safe. Phew! I just ordered a Maori army to add to the lead pile.

By the way, I’ve expanded this idea to also include LH ignoring corner-to-corner overlaps, for the same reason that Ps do... ...they are lobbing missiles (javelins or arrows) from a distance, and want to avoid standing toe-to-toe with their enemies. (See fanaticus.boards.net/post/30985/ ) I do like this for LH. It makes them more useful for armies with a small number of "scouts" that can act as a nuisance and cover flanks. It allows armies a large number of LH the confidence to attack in a line on masse. It can allow the removal of the rear-support as a trade off, which shortens the line and causes that silly "die on fleeing" result. Cheers Jim

I've ordered Numidians from Baueda Marian Roman range. The imitation legionaries will be the Unarmoured legionary figures (AUC10). For Roman trained foot, I'm using the standard Ps figures but adding the foot command figures as the 4th. It works for me.

Citadel does a Liquid Green Stuff. If there is enough metal as a skeleton or if you add a little paper to bulk out the axe then this could give you the accuracy of application for 15mm.

I've seen Tony do that and I'd love to be able to get terrain printed on material/neoprene so you could cut it out and use it as underlays for 3d terrain.

All hills have a ‘ridge line’ that blocks visibility (although my group likes to use ‘peak points’ instead... ...see fanaticus.boards.net/thread/3006/hills ). And there are only two types of hill in DBA, either Gentle Hills (which are good going) and Difficult Hills (which are bad going). But why not have a new type of hill between these two extremes...i.e. a Rough Going hill? Such a hill would have the same effects as ordinary Rough Going, but with an uphill advantage, just as a Difficult Hill is the same as bad going but with an uphill advantage. Indeed, one could reasonably argue that Gentle Hills should be good going when moving down-slope, but they should be treated as rough going when moving up-slope. (I find climbing even a gentle hill to be a bit of a slog, requiring several breaks to get my breath back... ...I’m not as fit as I once was. ) What if there was a pub at the top of the hill?

It largely depends on the fantasy universe you're gaming. Achilles will be out the front fighting and killing until a hero and/or god strikes him down. Luke Skywalker and Han Solo will succeed despite hopeless odds. Dr Who won't fight but will destroy the Stronghold. Maybe having different types of heroes with different benefits would work?
Cheers
