There are some airbrush primers that can give some tooth like Stylnylrez. You can brush it on if you haven't an airbrush.

Time for the Celtic armies. These are mostly OG15s with some additions for generals and hordes. Would love to get more Old Glory but postage to Australia is prohibitive. Next up and the last for a little while, will be a mythological HOTT army. Cheers Jim

I wonder if PB didn't look at armies in terms of groups of natural enemies. I suspect Bd may have been too powerful in open terrain for the Hoplite Sp they would meet regularly. It's just how I see the grading and come to terms with things like Vikings that historically were shieldwall spearmen being Bd and NKE spearmen being Bd.
Cheers

I always love Thracians. I think it's the hats, and the plethora of light troops. Nice looking BBDBA army you got there! That's what you need to cover the options for the army list! I like to randomly roll for the army composition when playing solo. Cheers Jim

I am very excited about these paints for 15mm painters. I've watched a few YouTube videos so far. I do a block paint and a wash with very limited drybrushing and no highlighting. Even then the wash is worth it but the drybrush is really difficult to justify on 15mm. These paints however, could make 15mm pop with minimal effort on a white primer. Also, the white primer generally means brighter, which help 15mm no end. Looking forward to trying them out! Army Painter Speed Paints

I've been in situations where 7, 17 or 77 still wouldn't help!

It would be hard to roll a 7 to deploy a god or dragon!

I'm with paddy649 on this one, even though stevie points out the current state of the rules. But I can't imagine the Psiloi of armies that contain camels wouldn't be so used to the situation that they would be able to move with Camels. As Psiloi move around and fight in Bad Going as if its Good Going, you'd be hard pressed to argue that Psiloi don't consider Bad Going as Good Going by their function even though we don't have a Phil Barker type statement of "For movement, Psiloi consider all Bad Going as Good Going". Do people think that Phil should have a rule for every situation? I don't see any other rules sets treated this way and I'm sure this adds to the legend of "Barkerese". I mean we're not specifically told that Camels treat Dunes and Oasis as Good Going, just that they don't treat them as Bad Going. We assume that it's Good Going because it makes sense that the freedom of movement and fighting ability of Camel troops in familiar terrain means that it should be Good Ground. Sounds a lot like Psiloi in all Bad Going! I completely agree that any group movement that involves any element in Bad Going, which actually hampers its movement, should be curtailed. But as this movement of Psiloi and Camels in Dunes or Oasis is not hampered in any way, common sense says it should be allowed in my mind, even though I play it as per the community consensus...most of the time... Cheers Jim PS As for LH and Psiloi double moves on first turn, I agree with separate PIPs as the Psiloi are looking for terrain that suits them, which clearly does not suit the LH!

The camp is from Baueda but the camp followers I can't remember. Essex? The Edifice has Baueda, a couple of souvenirs from the British Museum and half a flea market souvenir from Cairo. The rockface is polystyrene. It's separate from the base for playability. It was never meant to be a camp Edifice because of the if/but/except rules for camp Edifice in DBA!
Cheers

Here's the next on the list. They've been around for a while but recently revised. They're old Museum Miniatures not the Z type.. Not super happy with the old basing but that will have to wait. Cheers Jim PS The tropical army is next!

The buildings are scratchbuild. The farm is foamboard on letterpad cardboard with filler/spackle smeared on for stucco then painted. The fort is expanded polystyrene blocks with foamboard for battlements and sandstone texture paint. Wood is matchsticks and balsa coloured with wood stain. The sand is tile grout, which is fiddly and messy but given it contains cement gives a rock hard finish! They are a little bit too neat though, so I may need to do some weathering, probably with an airbrush.
Cheers

They've been finished for a while but here are my Eureka Sumerians to cover all three army lists of Book I/1. Of course now I need Burgundian Ordonnance (IV/85) so I can play the Alpha-Omega match up. Next up we'll go Tropical. Cheers Jim PS Love the beer drinker in the camp!
