Well, not all problems have a single solution, just a matter of finding which one suits one best

This is the one rule that's always bugged me - archers cannot engage in indirect fire, always require clear 'line of site' to their target. I'm sure no archer in history ever shot over the heads of troops standing immediately in front of them in order to soften up enemies prior to contact?
After all when DBR v 2.0 says on page 19 ' If using normal scale, Shot, Bow and Pistols (I) elements can shoot from behind 1 fully contiguous friendly element of the same type and grade at the front element's target. If using condensed scale, they cannot shoot from behind.' OK there are factors in there which don't apply to DBA but I fail to see the logic in the action being permissable under one rule set but not under another. Especially when the rules are produced by the same people.
I overcome this by using my own house rule.

Expanding a selection of my plastic armies to use up left over figures. Always plenty of infantry left after doing a DBA army. Won't try to post pics but the are all on: pregunpowder.blogspot.co.uk/

The whole show was one swallow making a summer compiled with a load of assumptions and guesses.

Good plan, exactly how I did a dozen of them in 1/72 recently. Only difference is I don't leave bare bits for glue, I find the paint a good 'key' surface for the likes of superglue. A dry run is essential if you're doing cars with three or four occupants. Good luck with it, patience wins in the end

Excellent, I did the same thing in 20mm. Add a couple of aircraft more for show than anything else. Looks like lots of fun for the future.

Strathclyde was a Brythonic kingdom, early Welsh figures may be appropriate (if such things exist) or at least a scattering of them. Likely they looked pretty much like their Northumbrian, Celtic and Pictish contemporaries. Basically your guess is as good as anybody else's.

I'm even more of a heretic soloist, I've converted to hexes How do you do this? First you have to forget everything in the rules about distance measurement to the nearest mm. I'm using Kallistra hex tiles which are 100mm A/F, suits me because I game in several scales. Using the DBA 3 system of base widths and all my HOTT elements are on 60mm wide bases, conversion is pretty straightforward. E.g. move 3BW = 180mm/100mm = 1.8 hexes round it up = 2H. The rounding up or down bit is why precise measurement to the rules has to be thrown out the window. Position within the hex doesn't matter for shooting purposes as it's effectively the hex that's the target. Obviously not a system to everyone's taste, suits me as a solo player and I can get rid of rulers, measuring sticks, etc.

I've got medievals in 25mm and plenty of 1/72 based for 25mm, do they count?

Certainly my preferred method for phalanx-type fighters these days, look better and the opportunity for deeper bases provides added protection to the figures.
