Is that the same as De Bellis Slolitarus? No. 'De Bellis Solitarius' was by Chad La Mons, and was designed for DBA 1.1. (I have a feeling that it is usable for later versions.) fanaticus.org/DBA/variants/vardbs.html'Solo DBA' was developed by a third party (myself) from 'De Bellis Solitarius'. The version on the old Fanaticus site is the one intended for 2.2. fanaticus.org/DBA/variants/SoloDBAVer2dot2.pdfThere is also an unfinished version for 2.2+ knocking around on my PC hard drive, and on the Yahoo group for Solo DBA. I have never played HoTT. Can someone explain the points system a little more? Perhaps it isn't as granular? In HotT, the elements vary in cost from 1 to 6 points. A standard sized army is 24 points. For a standard sized army, no more than 12 points can be spent on elements that cost 3 or more points. Hordes and Lurkers cost 1 point each. Flyers, Knights, Riders, Beasts, Blades, Spears, Shooters and Warband cost 2 points each. Airboats, Artillery, Sneakers and Clerics cost 3 points each. Gods, Dragons, Paladins, Behemoths, Magicians and Heroes that don't fly cost 4 points each. Aerial Heroes cost 6 points each. Edit: There is no grading except for the fact that one of the elements is the general (like DBA). There are some restrictions on what can be the general, for instance, Gods, Dragons and Lurkers can't be the general.

The old site reset the post count to 0 at least once. I have a feeling that it did so a couple of times.
It is possible that there might be a lot of new people joining the new site, and, unfortunately, some of the well-known names dropping out, or at least posting less often. However, I sincerely hope that this new site continues the polite and positive atmosphere of Fanaticus.
Edit: Then again, you have the problem of people who change user-names (as I have done).

When I lived in the UK, I had started some 25 and 28mm DBA armies. Sometimes I took a pair to the local club. People did like using them, but the convenience of using 15mm usually outweighed the positives.
Once I retired to this neck of the woods (with infrequent chances to play against human opponents) I hardly used them. In fact, I started a program of converting them to HotT armies.

Nice looking game.
I like DBR for my 6mm ECW armies. It is a little more complex than DBA RRR, and of course, because it is points based you can play a wide range of game sizes. These days I tend to go for 100+ point games using the condensed scale.

Are there any other active or potential DBA players in Northern Bulgaria? Alternatively, is anyone interested in HotT, DBR or DBN?
I live in Oblast Veliko Tarnovo, about 14 kilometres from Gorna Oryahovitsa. I have transport.

My impression is that the ratio of shot tended to increase during the English Civil War, but might vary by which army it was. One of the problems with having pike and shot on the same base is that you can't easily vary the proportion of pike to shot. This means that you either have to have a lot of elements, or use records of what each stand represents in the game currently being played. Using separate pike and shot elements gives you quite a lot of options about how they are put together.
The normal scale of DBR (100 men per pike or shot element) works reasonably well, assuming a field strength of regiments or turcios as likely to be between 300 and 600. Unfortunately, the condensed scale (which I prefer), where each of these elements represent 400 men, is not so realistic in this respect. In DBA RRR, an element of pike or shot would represent about 1,000 to 1,200 men.

It worked for me. When I clicked on the link, Firefox opened a new tab with the PDF in.

My 15mm, and my 6mm figures on 40mm wide bases are stored in plastic boxes with compartments that you used to be able to get from Wilkinsons for storing small parts. The 6mm on 60mm wide bases are mainly in chocolate boxes. Most of the 25/28mm figures are in plastic (Wilkinsons I think) or wooden (IKEA) drawers.
