Which is the best way to store figures?
For my 10mm and 20mm figures I use tubs collected from used Chinese takeaways. (I do wash them! Rather spoils the effect if ones early imperial Romans smell of Chop Suey!)
My 28mm ECW armies are in a complete wardrobe draw.
My figures do not travel anywhere,
I wondered how other people store theirs.

I use plastic containers sold for storing fishing lures and craft materials, about 16"lx10"wx2"h. They have dividers lengthwise and modular/movable dividers widthwise. Sometimes I line the bottoms with magnetic tape to keep figures safe. These are stored in larger plastic boxes with integral lids, as I move about a bit and use a storage unit because my current townhouse is small. Mine only seem to travel these days when I move houses or need to make room by taking them to storage!

I use a mixture of Lever Arch Box files, steel tool chests, a few Citadel Miniatures figure cases (like a brief case but with foam layers inside) and aluminium flight cases. Normally the only time my figures travel these days is to tournaments, I usually use one of the flight cases for this.

My 15mm, and my 6mm figures on 40mm wide bases are stored in plastic boxes with compartments that you used to be able to get from Wilkinsons for storing small parts. The 6mm on 60mm wide bases are mainly in chocolate boxes. Most of the 25/28mm figures are in plastic (Wilkinsons I think) or wooden (IKEA) drawers.

All my collections are 15mm and are stored in A4 size boxes which are primarily used for office archives. They are 55 mm deep which accommodates pike quite well.
A4 boxes are adequate for 4 - 5 DBA armies if mixed or cavalry types.
All terrain, villages and such are stored in similar but deeper boxes (110 mm).

As with most all of my games that require storage bins — Plano! Lined with strips of magnet on the bottom, magnets on the bottom of bases. Love the carrying cases that let me swap out loads for which armies I bring to the club for the theme of the month.

Same as timurilank, except mine are twice as deep, the armies being 1/72.

I get the big roll of sheet magnet at the big box craft stores with the weekly 40%-50% off coupon. Cut long strips to line each trough in the Plano boxes, and then cut other strips down to size as needed to fit each base. Magnet on magnet sticks pretty well. The trick is to make sure all the strips are cut with the magnetic grain going in the same direction!

I use exactly the same method vodnik uses. Magnetic tape glued to the bases, stored in metal square boxes. Cheap and effective!
