The « Z » range looks indeed very cool: my order has not yet arrived but I’m already thinking of a Theban army with 8Sp 😁

After a two year break (skirmish games mainly) I’m back to DBA 😁 I’ve been toying with medieval lists (HYW, ...) and as I discovered Museum miniatures website, I failed to resist: I bought a whole bunch of their « 300 » spartans hoplites 😅 I’m in for a II.5 spartan army (in Greece or Brasidas lads)
I know it’s not great and fun as being a spear army, but the minis look awesome (even if not proper historical).
Glad to be back !

All my camps are undefended as I'm a lazy camp buidler: so when an element ends its move in contact with the camp, it is destroyed. That's how I play it

Sorry to dig up this thread, but I want to be sure:
When you're in an ennemy TZ, you can move straight back to your rear, but not your entire move distance ?
I'm playing and teaching that you have to use your full move distance when leaving a TZ....... Seems I'm wrong (the magic of DBA is discovering rule points after many years...)

Two games today against my oldest son (nearly 5 years old, yeah : he just threw the dice for his army ) Later macedonians (my son threwing the dice) VS Polybian Romans (me): 4-2 (Loud hurras from my son) The phalanx pushed the legions away, the macedonian light troops won on the right flank and the General bravely held the left flank The second game was Gauls (my son threwing the dice) VS Polybian Romans (me): 2-4 (my son didn't want to play anymore ) Gaulish cavalry destroyed the Italian cavalry and 3Ax on the left flank, but the light chariots were routed by the roman general on the right flank, giving room to the velites to flank and destroy Warbands

Many battles were fought this week (9): - Celtiberians vs polybian romans: 4-0, 4-1, 6-4 - Celtiberians vs later macedonians: 6-0 - later carthaginians vs polybian romans: 2-4 - Gauls vs polybian romans: 4-1 - Gauls vs later macedonians: 5-3, 2-4, 4-0
I didn't take pictures because I was too much in the fights (and game clarifications). I was teaching the game to some of my NCO's (former or actual GW gamers) and when they fully understood the importance of protecting their flanks, games became really interesting. They now hate my Celts ;P

I’m a huge fan of fast troops (my Gauls are 3Wb, celtiberian 3Bd are good), nonetheless, ties do come often (as said before) and recoiling Cv and fast Inf is good. IMHO, choosing 3Ax or 4Ax depends rather on how you like to play than on what you’re fighting. Solid Aux are too slow for me when it comes to exploiting gaps.

I'd say Romans in general, opposed to one of their charismatic ennemy, for exemple: - Polybian romans vs later carthaginians (or Seleucids) - Marian romans vs Gauls (or other barbarians such as Germans or Ancient British) - early imperial romans vs anyone Roman legions whatever the period are well known and are quite attractive and, being a blade army, easier to handle. Their ennemies, like Gauls, Carthaginians or eastern successors can field different kind or exotic troops, and offer a different look and style.

Gentlemen,
I've got a silly question about shooting as I'll be fielding soon a shooting element for the first time in my DBA experience (Marian roman artillery). I usually play armies that don't have bows/artillery :/
So here's the question: when does a unit shoot, after all PiPs are spent or during the PiP phase ?
bonus question: when not facing ellies, is Art interesting ?
Thanks
