I can't do historical Pk/Bd v Aux at the moment but I've got a Thracian Civil War on the table. Mix of 4Aux v 3Aux. We'll see what happens.

Time and weather rules for DBA 3 v1.1.docx (18.8 KB) Hi all. I've updated this file to incorporate DBMM climate groups and rules/thoughts. This would make the DBMM army lists and the DBA lists comparable. I've made some alterations to make them DBA friendly (e.g. eliminating night fights and wind direction). I've also put a QRF table at the end to help identify quickly which rules if any would need top be considered for a given climate/season/weather score. This allows those interested to quickly identify what they need to look at without digging through the DBx style rules. Let me know if anyone uses them, particularly campaign players. Cheers Jim PS Forum so full I couldn't upload 18kb file. Had to delete an old photo of my Thracian fort.

Hi lkmjbc.
Just to clarify A, is it all Pk and Bl or just solid? Do you want any reports with Sp? I have Thracians and Hoplites that could help test.
Cheers

Hello gaelyann.
For my part, you have my complete support in producing a French version. In fact, anybody can produce a version in any language they would like! I'm sure stevie would agree. The aim of the project was to make DBA 3 more accessible and hopefully recruit more players. All we did was to compartmentalise some of the rules to help players. They are Phil Barker's rules. I hope that the cards will help your group recruit more players to DBA.
Cheers

For me, the improvement in washes (I use Citadel) has made me less inclined to go to black undercoat for 15mm. The washes gives more than enough shading and the range of colours means that bright troops don't need to be dulled down. There may be the odd instance (e.g. a lot of chainmail) but I would probably use a mid to dark gray and still use the Nuln Oil to shade.

I have first hand experience of stevie's traffic woes. We certainly could've played a game of DBA via text whilst he was enjoying the fruits of modern infrastructure planning! Cheers Jim

That's the idea Paul. Sort of a mix of historical and Homeric classical. I have found OG15s Army of Astur, which could paint up nice in bronze and gold. I have the Eureka centaurs to do Lapiths v Centaurs. I also have Xyston Skythian Female Warriors for semi-historical Amazons. Jim

Hello fanatici! As if I don't have enough projects, I now have an itch to make an ancient Atlantean army for Greek Myth HOTT. Something that Plato wouldn't find incredulous rather than Aquaman style armies (although, as a pathological wargamer, the battle scene in Aquaman did raise many possibilities). Battle Valor seems interesting but I'm not up to date with other fantasy producers so I'm coming to the group for advice. Cheers Jim

Excellent work stevie!
That'll make me dig out and paint the centaurs and fauns for my Greek myth army. Even have some Xyston female Skythians to act as Amazons (the likely historical origin of the Amazon myth IMHO)
Cheers

Hi all.
I'm on a bit of a terrain roll at the moment. Just finished up some nice hills and even nicer roads. Now thinking about rivers. As usual, I'm balancing the aesthetic with the practical reality of DBA. I've done the felt/card/balsa wood construction and that was fine, very practical but too neat. Now I want to go further.
I'm currently thinking of a modular system with a series of straight pieces of different lengths, a 30 degree bend, a 45 degree bend, a 90 degree bend and a couple of chicanes. Shallow banks to allow elements to stand (think heavy infantry on 15mm bases). Vallejo tinted water effects for the water, using it to makes the edges wobbly but play them as straight.
How do others model rivers?
Cheers

Happy birthday Denis!
Best wishes for your toy soldier pursuits as well as your non-toy soldier pursuits (do these really exist?)
