I love the blind general format... I am surprised as I didn't think you were fun at parties.

Like the title says, hopefully can get a few games in while I’m there. Won’t have any miniatures on me, I’m traveling rather light. Saw an earlier post, looking for games in the Philippines, and a commenter recommended someone’s blog, but that post is over 2 years old and that blog hasnt had an update since 2021. You may be thinking of Ian Thompson who was a very active blogger on his site called "Thomo's Hole." In all of my communications with him over the years he was a wonderful person. Unfortunately he passed away in 2021.

Saw you doing shield designs for your Huns, these are Sarmatian/ Nomadic mirror pendant designs from the book World of the Huns. Might be able to find something for your Hunnic shields out of these. Awesome! I will definitely work these in.

Light Horse (2LH) was not just represented by fast units of mounted skirmishers. A variation included those light horse that also had some body army and a more cohesive formation. Similar to the difference between 3BW and 4 BW. In addition, LH should be divided into those that primarily used javelins and darts and those that were truly horse archers relying on the bow. The former would be found in rough terrain (the Numidians of the Atlas Mountains of North Africa, Hobelars fighting in the bogs and forests of Ireland) while the later roamed the flat steppes of Eurasia and the Middle East. LHJ would have special movement through rough terrain. LHB would be faster overall with a greater range. Examples: 2LHJ - Numidians, Moors, Scythians, Arabic jihad 3LHJ - Byzantine koursores, Irish Hobelars, Spanish Jinetes, War of the Roses Scurrers 2LHB - Parthians, Huns, Mongols, Tatars 3LHB - Hungarians, Stradiots, Crusader turcopoles, Russian druzhina Thoughts or comments? Yep, I hear ya. Wait until you see what we come up with in the special scenarios we will be making up in the next year. With that said these changes will be only scenario specific.

In case you guys were under a rock or don't subscribe, I did a live feed with Mitch of the results for Historicon 2022 each night on my channel.
The turnout for all tournaments at Historicon 2022 seemed really low except for ADLG and seemed low for the convention in general. Despite all this we still had a player from Australia and another from Canada. Still only three people showed up for the NICT. We had a great time, which I would have had regardless of what we played.
I also did a live feed last night on my Youtube channel showing what I got at the show and outlining the good and bad of the event. I am very encouraged to paint new projects but not to put more effort into going to run events at Historicon since I worked pretty hard to make awards etc for little showing. All my efforts will be in pushing DBA 3.0 at our two annual cons in Orlando.
I am glad that DBA 3.0 is alive and well in my neck of the woods and we usually are now having the problem of too many folks to film.

Awesome. What picture hosting site are you using because the lack of free ones I have found has completely curbed my interest in posting pictures here?

This sounds great fun and is an inspired idea. One question - should the armies each have their own tower block? Otherwise, say an army is being really hammered and so has really destabilised the tower by pulling multiple blocks. The other army is doing well but gets a minor morale test and withdraws their first block that brings the tower crashing down. I may have misunderstood though! But there again, I would like this sort of thing wouldn't I? We occasionally play garden games with 54mm plastic figures and represent artillery and tank guns by firing foam missiles from toy guns! Cheers Simon TLDR:I created rules that allows a player to force another player to pull blocks from the tower without entering combat. This allows an army that is winning by a large margin to melt the enemy away without risking direct combat. See the 3 examples below for more specific examples. The NOT so TLDR versionThe long ranting stuff about mechanics and design decisions. When I was first coming up with the rules, I had two Jenga Towers, one for each player, but decided to use just one for a few reasons. If you want to play with two Jenga towers, you will just have to double the pulls. May it be called, DBA of the Two Towers. Reasons why no two Jenga towers - I imagined people only owning one Jenga tower. - I added rules for ways to pull from the tower without having to enter combat, this allows players to "game" the tower. Making it so if victory is almost certain the winning side (most likely) won't have to enter combat to win. 1) " If an element belonging to you is in contact on 2 edges by enemy front edges, pull 1 block." If you know one block is going to topple the tower, why risk combat when you can force the player to pull, by surrounding one (or more) of his elements? 2) " If an element belonging to you recoils, pull 1 block." This is another rule that doesn't need direct combat, you could try to force a recoil with bow shot at a 5Hd, or Art shot at a Lh. Forcing your opponent to pull that last block 3) " Camp lost, 3 blocks are pulled from the tower." Although this is slightly different, as it does involve combat with the camp, if your army is winning soundly and it is before the tower hinges on a single block, try to go for their camp. 3 pulls is a lot, especially if you are anywhere after 15 pulls in, which happens sooner than you think. - Having two towers means making the players pull more blocks, sometimes a max of 6. Watching someone pull 6 blocks before you get to roll isn't that fun, especially if you get a low amount of pips. - I liked the level of strategy 1 tower brings, and it keeps the game at a faster pace than 2 towers. Hope that helps, let me know if I need to clarify something. I was planning on trying this on Tuesday, but ran way behind and couldn't find our Jenga game and didn't feel like running around town at rush hour just to buy another copy. I painted instead. Amazoned a copy of the game and it arrived yesterday. Then tonight was an option, but Mitch has to work because he asked for a certain day off so he is getting screwed. It is off till next Friday at the earliest because won't have time to do it at our regular game night early next week.

Regulars: 4Pk (exception: Swiss 4Pk are irregular, to represent their ferocity?) 4Bw (exception: Indian 4Lb and Persian 8Bw are irregular, unless Immortals?) 4Ax (Greek Thureophoroi & Thorakitai, Imperial Roman Auxilia, and trained barbarians) Art (these need considerable training to be able to use their machines effectively) That stinks about Art. Mitch could finally get his Artillery General when it rolls a 7!

"Irregular Troops = use a modified six-sided die roll...-1 if you roll a ‘1’, and +1 if you roll a ‘6’."
Just to make sure I got this right...
Roll a 1 = -1 Roll a 2 = 2 Roll a 3 = 3 Roll a 4 = 4 Roll a 5 = 5 Roll a 6 = 1

The Battle of Tribola 147 BC - DBA 3.0youtu.be/CG7IXT-itUkThis is a historical scenario battle using De Bellis Antiquitatis 3.0 created by Henrique Cruz, who sent this to me and wanted us to playtest it, specifically with Joe's Lusitanians. This scenario is based on his interpretation of the events that took place at the Battle of Tribola when a Roman army was ambushed by the Lusitanians. Joe Kohten and I take turns playing each side. Idk what defines wargamey, swords, maces, armor? Dice? Age of Hannibal is played with paper rectangles. @tony, from the 4 games I played last night (with people that never played DBA), 18 pulls was the least amount and 32 pulls was the highest amount and a pretty intense DBA game. I think strip DBA would be a Pyrrhic victory for most, even if you do win, the "sight" of victory might be just as horrible as defeat So 18-32 range for both players together or each?
