The 2016 Good Bad and Ugly Tournament is now past and it’s time for the voting for the Barker Award for the best theme army and for the Stronghold Award for the best Stronghold. This poll will be for the Barker Award and a second poll will be set up for the Stronghold Award. Please vote for what you feel is the best army of those presented. Each Leg of the tournament is allowed to submit it’s best theme army, and then we open the voting to the public. The winner of this award receives a GBnU Logo Barker Marker and a trophy. This years Barker Marker was painted by David Crenshaw. And now for the candidates, not in any particular order.

Hi Pete,
Thanks, and it may have slipped a bit, but we do try to keep it even up - good vs bad. Hard to do as easily now that there are so many Legs and players, but we still try.
I want to share with everyone that my dear friend Pete and Maggie are coming to visit us this coming fall, so Pete will be partaking in the Nashville Leg of the GBnU. Very exciting!!!! And Pete, not to worry as I am looking into a translator for you so you can understand all of us Southerners! Just remember if you pass someone, anyone - say "Hey" unless it's a lady and then it's "Ma'am", and you can over use "You all" or as it's properly pronounced "Y'all" And I'll let you know the schedguale as soon as we have it - what!

Tony, I felt the same way, but once you start playing HotT it can be very addictive! It is my first choice of rules now - fun games, fun armies and for me more strategy needed to win. Give it a try, or better yet come up to Nashcon this year and we'll teach you, and have plenty of loaner armies.
Bob, that's an excellent report and I must admit, you are one for record keeping! Thanks for sharing it, as it was most enjoyable!
I'll close now and just say "Look to the skies!!!!!"

I am pleased to announce that the theme for the 2017 Good, Bad and Ugly Tournament is ALIEN INVASION! (cue the scary space music) Alien is defined as NOT OF THIS WORLD, but the invasions may be at any time period, or may even be an Earth invasion of another world, or an alien invasion of another world. Some suggestion sources for creating armies might be High Crusade, War of the Worlds, Aliens vs. Cowboys, Dune, John Carter of Mars, Harry Turtledove’s World War series, Screamers, Star Trek, Star wars, or you can create your own army. Remember, you can do either aliens or earthlings. There are ten Legs planned at this time, and the various Legs will be played in the fall time frame. Mid West – Coordinator Bob Beattie North Yorkshire – Coordinator Bob Carter Staines – Coordinator Tim Moore Atlanta – Coordinator Tom Thomas Shetlands – Coordinator Mike McEwan Glasgow – Coordinator Euan Caldwell Texas Republic – Coordinator Blake Radetzky Tornado Alley – Coordinator John Hoovey Sydney – Coordinator Victor Jarmusz Nashville – Coordinator Terry Webb Interested players are welcome to join in any of the established Legs or are encouraged to start a Leg of their own. This is an international tournament with the sole purpose of having fun and bringing like minded gamers together over a common theme. More to follow, Terry

The 2016 Good, Bad and Ugly Tournament is in wind down mode and I will be posting two polls for your voting. The first will be the traditional Barker Award for the best theme army. Each Leg of the tournament may submit one army as their candidate for this award and then we ask the world at large to vote on the one they feel is the most deserving. Our theme this past year was “There be Dragons” and a theme army was one based on historical armies that had a required mix of historical and fantasy elements. The second award is a new one, The Stronghold Award, and as with the Barker Award each Leg may submit their best candidate. This award is for the best and most creative Stronghold. Should it happen that a player whose army was never the defender, he may still vie for this award with the Stronghold he would have used. Please take a moment to look at the candidates in these two polls and cast your vote. The 2016 GBnU was a very successful year with a new Leg participating in the Shetland Islands coordinated by Mike McEwan. Here are a few pictures from 2016 events I’ve been saving to share which we hope you will enjoy. The Staines Leg, coordinated by Tim Moore, absolutely takes the cake for the largest attendance. Just excellent Tim! And hope to see everyone back again next year. Bob Beattie’s Mid West turnout was equally as impressive. Bob always goes the extra mile with signs and supporting props – Well done Bob! The Shetland Leg, lead by Mike McEwan. A new Leg this year and one that jumped in 110%. Thanks Mike! The Sydney Leg, coordinated by Victor Jarmusz. As some of the other Legs, this one is included as part of the annual Con HotT event. Nicely done Victor!

I was able to finish my model of the Kirin while working on other projects, so he is ready to help Lady Snowblood! I also decided to have a little more fun with him, in that since he is really seen as good in Japanese mythology - I sort of adopted a Ferdinand the Bull theme with the basing - thus the pretty red and yellow flowers! I actually plan to have him become part of my Samurai army when I get around to doing it, as I will see them as more good than an army of assassins - Ninja. But in the meantime he will stay close to Lady Snowblood and guard her six!!! Terry

This years Good, Bad and Ugly Tournament is done, with 10 Legs having participated around the world. Very soon it will be time to have you all vote for the best Theme Army for the barker Award and the best Stronghold for the Stronghold Award. Each Leg votes on their choice and submit a picture to me for world wide voting, so there can be up to 10 candidates in each category. Here is the Barker Award - a Barker trophy and a GBnU Logo figure Barker Marker. And new this year, the Stronghold Award for the best Stronghold. A great looking trophy and an excellent copy of a book on creating terrain. As in years past I can see it is going to be a tough choice for both awards because there are some really outstanding candidates. More to follow on this, Terry

The highlights and details are done, and the protective coats applied so I have glued the figure to it's base. Next step will be to sculpt the base and then it will be ready for play.
You will notice I made the tree horns a little more at a downward angle than probably should be, and the tail is shorter a bit, but both these steps were done to keep the figure within the size of the base allowed and allow other elements to full engage or touch as needed. This is something I always strive for in creating an element. Terry

The wash coats have dried and here is a picture of the Kirin before I start the highlights and detailing. The creature is really starting to look good now, and so far I am pleased with the results. Hard to see the three eyes on each side, but they are there. Terry
