Brilliant! Seems to work very well indeed. I don't know how you want to progress, but I've already created Wiki pages for DBA & HOTT variations. Do you want to upload the relevant missing files and edit the links in or would you like a hand? We may have a small problem with some of the original links as they seem to point to defunct web sites. So the only way that we'll be able to recreate them will be if someone else has a copy of the original document that we can upload to Google Drive. All should be done and those who have no links I noted as well. Now I just need to start with the variants and such. Although iirc they are primarily text.

I can upload the files and add the missing links it should be no problem. I can PM you if I have more questions/decisions to be made. It's easier because I think I have to do all the uploads myself because it is on my drive. No difference in the long run

I shall experiment. I have used it extensively for its traditional purposes, but if we can get this to result in a satisfactory conclusion we have around 15GB of free storage. Test Drive Link

I've been in touch with Chris, and he has given permission to use data from the old site as long as we credit the original authors and honour their wishes regarding the data if/when they make them known to us. With this in mind I had a bit of a play with the Wiki and created some pages of DBA/HOTT rules adaptations that feature on the resource pages of the old site. In the main they seem to work OK, but we need to find a way of storing the files that the majority of the links linked to. On the old Fanaticus these files were stored on the web server, with using a free site we don't have that ability. Most of the files are pdf files or spreadsheets. Unless someone has a good idea I'd be willing to host them, temporarily, on my own web server. We could use a google drive account. A Fanaticus account could be created where a download link uses google drive as the host. I have seen others, in the video game world with larger files, use this in the past. Should be plenty of free space included to host all of the documents and more.

With Lh armies in particular, I imagine deploying for a turn 1 and/or 2 rapid movement is needed to take advantage of it. Otherwise, like you said, contact can happen quite quickly. I do enjoy the rules a lot. I think I have read the diagrams more than the rules to be honest because I can't stand Barkerese.

Do we have permission to transfer the files from the Fanaticus site to the Wiki? If so, I would be more than happy to get the ball rolling. I have around a weak with plenty of free time to make sure they are transferred appropriately with the proper authors credited.

This is an interesting question. I have considered it, however I see it as being a little difficult as the DBA army lists are based around 12 elements, and BBDBA in it basic format as multiples for simplicity. As a result if you had "cheap" troops you would need more stands than the standard 36 elements. This impacts the selection process. However, your suggestion of x4 above is very clever! As mentioned the "Great Battles of History for DBA 3" may indeed of interest, but focussed on historical refights rather than a points system. Yes this would be a turn away from the traditional rules to have flexibility in the number of elements within the army, which would cause some problems for those who only have 3 armies of the standard lists. It would need a corresponding points system as well. This is just something I have been thinking about for a while as a way for simple translation into that DBMM very very light approach. I will have to play test it sometime soon and report the results. I just need to figure out some rough points system. I like to switch to Big Battles when I can

Personalities are always fun! One of the many projects on my list is also ECW. I painted a FOG Parliament force for a friend and base by base I wished they were mine. Are you using DBA-RRR? I use DB-RRR, and "A Splendid Victory" rules by Trevor Raymond. With DB-RRR I use a variant (which I believe comes from Humberside) that allows for mixed Pike/shot formations. I use DB-RRR for larger engagements and "A Splendid Victory" for smaller actions. I am also currently working on some home grown rules. In the past I have used the rules by Donald Featherstone which are included in his book "Wargaming Pike and Shot". I also play ECW in 2mm and for those I use DB-RRR again with the Pike/shot variant and also some rules adapted from the Board Game "Command and Colours: Napoleonic". The game uses the same board and terrain tiles as the Napoleonic game but the tactic cards are different and instead of blocks for the troops I use the 2mm figures from Irregular Minatures. I think it deserves the Eye Candy tag More than 3 colors is the key!

And sorting and re-storing other troops for the move produces some wonderful discoveries like crazycaptain560's. Whoa? I have *those*? This was the only good part of the process. Found out I in fact do have enough GW Fantasy stuff laying around to do a HOTT Big Battle Haardrada- My goodness! You deserve a medal! Tool boxes eh? Do you have "floating" containers within them? You have me rethinking everything now...

I am afraid I don't know of any points values for v3 of DBA but a couple of thoughts: - if you are interested in playing big battles have you checked out the new DBA book of battle scenarios? Details are at: ancientwargaming.wordpress.com/ There are example chapters for free download and soon the whole book will be available as a free download as well as there being a printed version for sale. - Although I am not a DBMM (or DBM) player, I hear DBMM is more closely aligned with DBA v3 than DBM. Have you checked out how DBMM points values might work? Kind regards, Simon Oh thanks for info and link! I will check those out. Big Battles are even better when done historically. I have DBM, studied it, but never played because DBA is so much simpler. Alas I am afraid asking that may cut copyright issues a little close, or at least I fear. Book is also terribly hard to find so that is also difficult.

Would a little video help so we can all see how the Wiki Works? At least the basics. If we learn more I can make another video. I will try to do one by this evening. I will post this as a separate post probably as Wiki Tutorial and FAQ.
Key thing is figuring out what software I want to use.
(also, please forgive the MIC quality. It is just a basic Mic for gaming, but should do the job for this video)
