i use scale 75 almost exclusively with nuln oil for any black washes i need doing and army painter washes and colours at a pinch if i run out of scale 75 stuff. its fantastic and the ebst reds and yellows i have ever found. not a fan of vallejo personally, but its all personal preference really.

I placed an order with TimeCast Miniatures today and recieved a confirmation of despatech several hours later. Fantastic service.
Now a Heads Up A second order was placed today for Black Hat miniatures which are now carried by Fighting 15s. I am aware that these are cast to order but thought it wise to read the delivery, terms and conditions sections.
As the Brexit date nears, the online shop will close from 15 March 2019 to 15 April 2019 “to account for the likely change in cross-border tax law that will cause complications with international orders.”
Any plans to expand your armies you may want to hasten them along.
The problem arises because Fighting 15s is registered for VAT. This raises the possibility that an EU customer could order from Fighting 15s before Brexit (B-day) and pay VAT on their order, but that order might not be dispatched until after B-day. If the tax regime changes on B-day because of a no-deal Brexit or because the U.K. goes outside the customs union, then that order may well have tax charged on it again on import, and the customer will be charged tax twice. From my understanding of EU trading laws, I can’t shut the shop to only Continental EU customers before B-day: I have to remain open to all customers (UK and EU) or shut to all. The issue does not arise for non-VAT registered businesses, so lots of small U.K. toy soldier businesses will not be affected. For them it is simpler: before B-day their orders to the EU have no tax: after B-day their orders get taxed on import at typically 20%+ plus a handling charge for the customer. So in the event of the U.K. dropping out of the customs union their figures simply will be more expensive. it is already clear to me that a lot of customers are thinking in advance and ordering now. The planned closure period is to allow me to get affected orders out the door before the tax situation changes. However, as this month has already shown, I can get too many orders to process, the only solution to which is a short, temporary closure to get back on top. My teutons arrived a couple of days ago, ordered them a week after christmas so good job getting them out so quick! lovely figures

Was there not a similar idea done in the late 1990's or early 2000's? A group of amateur historians and generals replayed historical battles as a wargame format, which if I remember was done via computer which looked very similar in style to the Total War seies of computer games. Cannot for the life of me remember the title. It used the rome total war engine and was basically a test for it

Joe, As a self confessed pikeophile I can only thank you for your insights. I like pike, mainly because they look great and have lots of vertical real estate for flags. However, using them under 3.0 is hard. My Alexandrian Army works if you can get the “hammer and anvil” tactics working with the pike pinning the enemy spear while Alexander, Thessslians and prodromi take the spear from the rear. This works especially well when the opposition throw lousy PIP dice. However, against a Thessalian army with 4 Cav, whet the pike is flanked by all that Spear and the Macedonian amounted isobermatched it is hard. I agree with your assessment of the Hypaspists and think there is a good case for them being classified as 4Ax//4Bd//4Sp.....but that is another thread. I agree that Pk mix well with 3Kn but numbers matter. Armies with 6 or 8Pk are hard to use as I found out at PAWS where my Low Countries Army with 6 Pk and no mounted felt like I took a knife to a gun fight. However, a Pk Gen spices things up and can kill with reasonable dice. So not a killer army but it’s fun trying! Paddy You and your bloody pikes!
