The good news is that we now have dates for this year's PAWS tournaments (including the English DBA Open).
The bad news is there will be one fewer that recent years.
For reasons I won't go into here, we are having to move venue at short notice. The current plan is that we will now be playing in Fort Cumberland as guests of a Veterans charity who are based on the site. Assuming there are no problems we will be moving next month. So we will not have a tournament in March as usual, but will have Late Spring, Autumn and Winter themed tournaments using slightly different rules for theme choice.
The dates for these tournaments are currently planned to be:
Late Spring PAWS DBA - Saturday 18 May 2019 Autumn PAWS DBA - Saturday 21 September 2019 English DBA Open - Sunday 27 October 2019 Winter PAWS DBA - Saturday 7 December 2019
The Autumn and winter dates will be reviewed once the 2019-2020 football fixture list are published and may be moved forward or back a week to avoid clashing with Portsmouth FC home games (as traffic will be a nightmare on those afternoons).
Only word on themes so far is that the late Spring DBA is likely to be 8th Century BC Near East.

What is the arrangement with parking at Fort Cumberland; is it always free?

What is the arrangement with parking at Fort Cumberland; is it always free? As I understand, there is ample free parking. But I haven't been there myself yet so I'm relying on reports from others.

Oli, yep, ‘near east’ is a relative term, I guess..... It was suggested that it may involve something like ‘armies and enemies of the (?neo-) Babylonians, 8th C BC’ , but beware, Lindon hasn’t firmed up the theme yet, so it could yet be anything from 3000 to 1 BC. It was suggested that as there will be three main tournaments per year (+Open), not four, then the three MIGHT change to - BC for the first, 1-1000 AD for the second, and 1001 onwards for the third. Yet to be confirmed. Definitely, DON’T buy an army for it yet 😳

Not a good start to the year but we have already had to change the date for the Late Spring DBA tournament. It will now be held one week later, on Saturday 18 May 2019. I've edited the original post accordingly.

We now have a theme for the Late Spring (May 18th) DBA, which I will post in a new thread.
