Just read this, you certainly had better luck than I usually do. It is great when the British do manage a victory though. I cannot say if luck played a role. These British lack chariots, which are replaced by 4 x warband, including their general. This increases the threat to half of the Roman foot as seen in game one. The threat was countered by engaging the Roman cavalry earlier during the battle, than later. A re-match is scheduled for next week, using 24 elements. Looking forward to it

I am considering only fans. £10 a month for unlimited content. £20 a month for premium access to clips where I leave my clothes on.
I could be on to something.

I always thought command re rolls on a scratch off card, each one you used you scratch off. When you have used all five you need to buy a new card.
I will however say that much as I like a few GW targeted jokes I know I would probably not be wargaming if they had not got me hooked and the whole gaming scene would be much smaller without their input.

I def want a GW like 200 pages of fluff having no bearing on the game whatsoever. Oh and adverts, dont forget some adverts.

There are def weaker armies than others, however given massive variation of armies taken to tourneys there are at least many that can contend. I like points based games to give balance to a game.
Given that I usually play £5 to play six games I really dont mind if my crud force gets drubbed, to be fair at least one non drubbing is nice though.

Ha! Only because they have no other troops! The same goes for the Spanish Iberians, Illyrians, Thracians, etc. Now look at Roman formations, and Macedonian Pike formations… Dont get us started on Alex again.

I think you will find in a few countries that Jews were owed a lot of money, and the Templers was not the only case. I seem to vaguely remember it happening in England? David Constable You mean you were there? Wow

‘as they would by choice, more often than not, no?’ Not necessarily - they could very easily fight 8 deep, even 10 (same as Sp) so why force them to fight 2 deep elements by giving them a crappy CF when 1 deep? And yes I do think the problem is you are constantly giving Pk based armies a disadvantage by giving them the problem of being continuously outflanked. I’m probably in a minority in thinking that the phalanx Philip II designed was more flexible and not this unwieldy block that could only charge straight ahead. I don’t really sign up to the ‘hammer and anvil’ philosophy either. Thread should be changed to Poor Old Baldie Out of interest who were the Mac’s up against in these battles Baldie? I like using them to be fair as you do get a sense of victory and achievement when they win, rather than just lucky matchups or dice 😜 Poor old Baldie would be an acceptable moniker. Have fought against Alex many times as despite being crap he is at least popular Don't think I have used him in a DBA battle other than against mi sen. The battles I recently played were against The and. I have used several successor type armies though and have had great fun with them. True to my new nickname I also love EAP and love it when I actually win with em. Got a lovely mounted Alex and some Seleucid cataphracts on the go at the moment. Given that I have taken the Ancient British to tourneys for no other reason than I love em Alex may still get his chance.

Just waiting for DBF to be released then Ancient British warband/Orc & Goblin type armies can take their rightful place at the top of the pile.

Yet again Alex spins in his lost tomb. 3 games vs Thebans Game 1 double ranked pike got flanked and Alex crumbled Game 2 double ranked pike got flanked and Alex drumbled Game 3 Alex crushed a spear element and it looked grim for the Thebans until a double ranked pike got flanked and Alex crumbled Aactually very enjoyable games Alex is going to have a crack at Lart next How problematic was the automatic pursuit in your games? I find the short line coupled with the inability to maintain even that is a fatal double-whammy! Jim Not as problematic as you would think as they rarely won a combat

A few years ago I did a refight of Chaeronea in BBDBA which Philip won. It was because with only 48" board width for 36 elements, and historical terrain on each flank, there wasn't room for all the hoplites in one rank. What was the terrain like in your games, Baldie? Couple Alex could anchor a flank the last one was more open Theban 8 sp also helped. Glad I could outwit my opponent anyway, he is a right fool.
