May I ask what this DBF is? (I remember a fantasy version of DBM by that name, but I assume this DBF is something different).
As for blingy stuff in rulebooks; I do not care. It is fine with lots of pictures and fine without.

A little late, but still a fun fact, considering the madness of it: In Germany, you would not be allowed to paint walls and (especially!) roofs white in most cases. Most street development plans have very detailed ideas about what you are allowed to do with your house and the wrong hue of red for your roof's shingles may get you into serious trouble.

I tend to think that the problem is not so much with armies and their relative power, but rather with the fact that people play tournaments. Miniature wargaming is not suited for tournaments, IMHO. Most armies work OK in historical match-ups. Some do not. I agree that Auxilia is a strange troop type. And my Thracians surely have not lived up to their historical reputation as great warriors.
As for armies with a bad fighting record: Yi Korean were not impressive for most of the period; probably too good in DBA.

Very pretty. Much better than mine, I fear. Somehow I find it very hard to get Japanese armour look right. These do that very effectively and with a minimalist approach. Great.

I "sense" the intention that dismounting should only be allowed as the only move in that bound.
But the rules as written do not seem to disallow dismounting being the last tactical move in a series of tactical moves.
I assume this is an omission in the rules, since this mostly only affects LH and there are few cases of dismounting LH and those are in rather exotic armies.

What about: Heavy troops (Bd, Sp, Kn, El, Pk, WWg) get a permanent -1 marker for being recoiled. I would either allow only one such marker, or limit it to 2 such markers. Maybe allow for the markers to be removed at a cost of 1 PIP per marker.
I think this might help with some historical match-ups, especially with Ax, Cv and light troops, which have difficulties against heavy troops.

I like DBA 3 much better, due to more dynamic gameplay, more troop types (the "Fast" variation works great for my taste), the impressive army lists, and the speed of play. While I agree with stevie that the rules could do with a revision and some minor changes, to make them even more clear and fluid, the speed and elaboration of play is unparalleled by any other set of rules.
Before DBA 3 came out, I was happy to play DBA 2.2, and even DBA 1 before that. All brilliant rules. Not sure I would want to play any of the DBx rules exclusively, but they are an integral part of my wargaming life.

Firstly, it's nice to be back. Apologies for the long absence. I had a date with cancer. Lost a kidney, but all good now. All the best and good recovery! Cancer is pure evil.

I think the flag is close enough and looks good While the flag is a very late Qing flag, the Ming had similar flags and would probably have been OK with a dragon on imperial yellow. Yes, they look very similar. But I think these worthy warriors deserve the right flag flying over their heads! Maybe they perform even better...
For very authentic flags, these are taken from Ming era manuals (which are in black-and-white, so the colours are open to interpretation).

Great news! Does anyone know what sort of plastic it is? I have recently had some very brittle plastic figuren and I found clipping and drilling very hard to do without other parts snapping off.
Any experience with these figures?

Good idea for a house rule, I would say.

The size of Epic Battles miniatures is 13.5mm (intended exact scale stated by Warlord Games). Which means - and this seems to be substantiated by most reviews - that they mix neither with 10mm nor with 15mm. Strange decision, but will sell anyway, due to being relatively cheap and being glossy and advertised with colour and all.
