I also found that Splintered Light do a range in their Romano British set. This maps accross the DBA3.0 list.
Never used these figures. Any views?

Timurilank - thank you for this and I will have a look to see what is in the OG lists.
I have also been interested in your terrain ideas and have ordered a few pieces from Busch to have a look at their fields etc.

All - following an article in Slingshot that developed a Dark Ages British Campaign system, I have been collating armies for late 800s and 900s. Typically I have used Essex and these cover Vikings, Saxons and Pre-Feudal Scots etc pretty well. I found the Bauda range whish had a specific Norse Irish III/46 army base and other figures around that, and they look good and ordered (if a bit expensive?). However, on trying to find a Strathclyde army, the Essex one was a mix of Roman / Saxon / Welsh / Viking etc and did not look quite right.
Has anyone had experience of building a Strathclyde 15mm army for the 800s / 900s or there abouts, and recommendation for figure sources.
thanks
Peter

Hi Antoine,
Again having a plan for fields of fire is important, often associated with channelling of enemy forces between terrain features can assist in effectiveness.

Dear forum,
In an enemy bound my LH element is forced to recoil. This can be a base depth or a BW. If the recoil is chosen as 1 BW, does that mean in my bound that all movement for that LH element is restricted by the TZ requirements, as it’s front end must still be touching the enemies TZ, and cannot just go galloping off somewhere else....
If the case - what was the point of having the option on recoils of base depth or 1BW for mounted?
Thanks
Peter

Unfortunately will have to miss this excellent event this year. Warmer climes are booked on one of Martin's fleet...will be looking out for photos and reports.

Yes - thanks to Bill for organising. That was pretty full on, rapid rounds. Lots of ebbs and flows.
Ah Tuareg Paul - the only time then you had no dunes, there was a fight and you bettered my Lombards on the final throws....

Indeed - looking forward to the event. Always interesting to see the distribution of armies selected from the qualifying list. Aiming for 1200 or there about too. Peter

Just for information. Portsmouth are playing at home this coming weekend. A 1500 KO v Oldham, so may be something to include in planning for those driving down. Peter

I was involved in 2 scenario refights of the Battle of Degastan 603AD on Monday just gone.
The armies are Middle Anglo Saxon 11x4wb and 1xPS versus Scots-Irish with a LCh general 9x3Ax, 1x7Hd and 1xPs.
Battlefield basically paltry river across centre with gentle hills either side.
Sitting behind the Scots-Irish on that open terrain, it felt like no chance to win. Actually both scenarios unfolded in the same way, in the Scots - Irish refused centre and went for 1 or 2 flanks, got past the Warband and then destroyed then piecemeal from the flanks. This surprised me.
The killing power of the supporting Warband elements were diminished and held, and not mobile enough to redeploy quickly.
Any thoughts on how the Saxons could have deployed or tactically offset this fast flanking?
The results were opposite to historical outcome.

Thanks Martin for the reports, same issues, as have a preferred army but there is no real superiority over the potential opponents. Down to generalship on the day... and of course the dice...
