Just started painting my 28mm English Civil War Infantry from Warlord Games. So far apart from their base I have completed an element of Forlorn Hope.
The Warlord ECW Infantry box gives 12 Pikemen and 24 Musketeers. I have split the contents in two and made two Regiments which fits to the figure scale I use. Also included is a Command team and I had enough bits to make two Forlorn Hope stands.
Pictures to follow when I have more completed.

My village in Norfolk contributed to King Harold's forces. Being an impoverished rural community we could only equip one man to send. We gave him the Spittoon from the local tavern for a helmet and a bow with a handful of arrows.
When he arrived at Hastings he asked King Harold where he should go. Harold looked dubiously at the bow and said "Somewhere near the back and be careful you don't have someone's eye out with that thing!"

A black London Cab is granted a Hackney Carriage License. The Cab driver must by law have a bale of hay in the boot for the horse.

A very good point. I will try that out and see. It could be a good exercise to see where the solo system can be improved. I was actually pleased I won as I have lost badly to the solo system a number of times recently in all eras

I have this weekend attempted to fight the battle of Quarte Brae using DBN rules and 20mm Napoleonic figures. My report with pictures can be read on my web page www.spanglefish.com/solitarywargamer/

My impression is that the one about having to practice archery every Sunday has been taken off the ststute book within the last couple of decades. Having said that, I have only once spent part of a Sunday practising archery. Your off the hook either way then sir!

If you are male aged between 15 and 40 years, living in the UK you most probably have broken the law this morning!
Did you, after Church do an hours archery practice at the village/town butts. If not you broke the law!
This law has never been taken off the statute book. Probably just in case we need to teach our French cousins another short sharp lesson!
I believe it was passed by Henry IV.
