That Lady Penelope always seemed on edge to me. Very highly strung!

Thanks. I think Hotte might be the way to go but I will look at the Peter Pig rules as well.
I use to use Peter Pigs Regiment of Foote for the ECW.

I want to re-fight Hastings (again).
The big problem with Hastings is that in the actual battle victory for William came about mainly through parts of the Saxon army pursuing retreating Normans and thereby creating gaps in the Saxon shield wall, which then caused a shortening of the wall length.
In DBA 3.0 Spear do not pursue at all and Blades pursue other foot.
My take on the battle is that blades (Huscurls) would be disciplined enough not to pursue and break the shield wall, however the Select and Great Fryd (Spears) would.
Therefore for my re-fight I will implement the following house rules.
Huscurls (blade) never pursue.
Select Fryd (Spears) If they recoil any Norman element roll a D6 score of 1 the Select Fryd pursue
Great Fryd (Spears) If they recoil any Norman element they roll a D6 score of 1 or 2 the Great Fryd pursue.
I tried this out and it seemed to work well.
In the trial only one element of Great Fryd pursued, but next bound Harold was able to advance his unengaged left flank to support the pursuing Fryd.
However Normans only have to get the Saxons to do that a couple of times and the Saxons would loose the hill advantage.
Going to do a full re-fight but using the standard 12 elements this weekend.
I will post a report and put pictures on my web page.

Myself I always fancied Lady Penelope from "Thunderbirds". Didn't work out though. She was looking for a no strings attached relationship!

I just had a look through my wargames "stuff" and I have a copy of HotTon a word document. I had it as I needed it for HotE. This copy does appear to have some army lists. I think the copy I have is not the newest version.
Not sure if I could email it to you as I might be in breech of Phil's copyright etc.

There is also Tony's DB-RRR which I have used in the past for English Civil War and now intend to use for my Italian Wars project.

" DBA has no rules to force attackers to advance, nor any time-limit such as nightfall to encourage them to do so" That is why we always use the wonderful time of day (limited number of turns) display. That also seems a good idea.

Thanks! That's fantastic.
Italian Wars are not an area I have studied before.

I do hope this little tale will not offend our European colleagues. It was related to me a while back over a pint of ale and with my perverse sense of humour I cracked up.
A couple of times a year this very elderly gentleman visited and stayed with his Grandson and family.
He arrives for his visit and immediately asks after his great Grandson. He is told the 18 year old lad is in his bedroom playing computer games.
Great Grandad wheezes his way up the stairs and sees his Great Grandson who is deeply engrossed in some game. The curtains are closed and the room airless.
"Son" says great Grandad " This is no way to spend your time. Cooped up in here and never seeing the world."
"Nothing else to do Grandad" replies the lad.
"When I was 18 years old" said Great Grandad, "I went to Paris, I had a great time, went to a top notch restaurant, had a slap up meal, drank heavens knows how much wine, chased the waitresses and walked out and never paid for any of it. That son is living!"
6 months pass. Great Grandad visits again, and again the the situation is the same. Grandson cooped up with his computer. But Great Grandad is worried to see the lad has his head bandaged, his left arm and right leg in plaster .
"What happened?" He asked
"I heard what you said Great Grandad, so I went to Paris, found this really expensive restaurant, guzzled the wine, eat the food, chased the girls and walked out without paying. and then the manager and two burly guys beat seven shades of hell out of me!"
"Oh!" Said Great Grandad "Who did you go with?"
" A couple of mates from college" he said "Who did you go with Great Grandad?"
"German Army" was the reply

I have now purchased a 6mm Landshnect Army, about 22 bases in all.
I need some army lists for them and enemies.
Am I correct to think this era would be covered by DBR?

Er...Spears don’t get side support when fighting Knights. Page 11, paragraph 2, Flank Support, says:- “Some ‘Solid’ elements add +1 when in frontal close combat in good going against enemy foot...” Spears are actually slightly weaker than Blades. When a Blade is double overlapped (they like to pursue) they are CF 5-2 v Spears CF 4 +1. And CF 3 v CF 5 has 6 chances out of 36 of being doubled and destroyed. When Spears in the same situation are double overlapped they are CF 4-2 v Blades CF 5. And CF 2 v CF 5 has 12 chances out of 36 of being doubled and destroyed. (Not forgetting Spears also lose their side support in rough going)I find that 7Hd are far too weak and are effectively useless. Yes, they don’t recoil, but they always pursue, getting their weak CF of 3 double overlapped. I now see my problem. I was giving spears side support against everything. No wonder they appeared to be invincible! So am I correct now to say Spears only get side support in good going against foot NOT mounted?

The Anglo Saxon Army IV/62B has 1 x General Bld 2 x Bld, 4xSelect Fryd Spear, 4 x Great Fryd (Spear/7Horde)
If I read that correctly I can have a total of 8 Spear elements. I have played a couple of battles against the Saxons with the Norman Army IV/62a and the spear elements with their +1 for flank support seems to make them pretty invincible against knights.
In Sue Barkers book she describes the 4 x Great Fryd Spear as the less well ordered troops better represented by 7 Horde, I am beginning to see why, because with the option of having them spears they fight to the same level as their Select Fryd counterparts.
To give a more realistic feel should I go with 4 x 7Horde for the Great Fryd or keep them as spear but make a house rule they cannot receive or give side support?

My 2mm Norman and Saxon armies battle pack arrived from Irregular this morning.
Lockdown, so plenty of time. The Norman Knights are painted up and based. Undercoated the spears.
Cheated a bit as I made all the bases whilst waiting for them to arrive.
I will put photos on my web page when everything is completed.

Just to throw another handful into the mix.
Horses gallop uphill far more easily and safely than they do going downhill.
Perhaps mounted need to be looked at as well.
