Note: I don't think this is for Agincourt. The armies are earlier, especially the French (*much* earlier in the HYW). Yes I am looking at very early HYW.

Sadly, dismounting is not an available option to the French a) list. Dismounting with IV/62a is as you say not an option. I have really made it difficult for myself as I am concentrating on the very early HYW. I have the Agincourt era covered by my 2mm collection.

Yes his name was actually Bowskill!
Dismounting is not an option I had thought off.

Before we talk tactics let me make one thing clear. It has been officially acknowledge that I am not the worlds greatest tactician.
Many years ago when undergoing my initial officer training with the Royal Air Force we had to undertake various exercises etc. The instructor was a man named Flight Sergeant Bowskill. As we were officer training he had to address us as Sir or Mr, and this man could put so much contempt into those two words as to be unbelievable!
On one occasion we had to undertake a tactical exercise, and I was in charge. I fouled it up completely, got lost and managed to get all my squad wiped out. Debriefing from Flt/Sgt Bowskill went as follows.
"Well Sir, that was a complete balls up. I am in despair! I am supposed to turn you into a leader of men. To be honest Sir, the only reason anyone would follow you is out of bloody curiosity!! Sir!" Now having set out my credentials, everyone will realise any reply must be simply composed with a minimum of jargon.
I have now played two solo battles with 100 years war English IV/62b and French IV/62a. All options available.
Terrain consisted of 2 x plough in the centre, woods just to the front of the French right flank and a difficult hill on my right flank. The first dice rolled was a 2 so no problem from the plough land.
First battle I played the English and the solo system played the French. I shot down the French knights with comparative ease. They never made contact with my line. I won 4 elements, all knights, to 1 element, mounted Longbows for me.
I then using the same terrain set up I played the battle again but this time as the French. I was wary of advancing my Knights to quickly and decieded to use my foot troops first, they did note fare well and the English then began to advance their longbows until in range of my knights and again they were shot to pieces, but I did manage to take out the English armies Welsh contingent, some knights and a longbow elements.
Can anyone please give suggestions of good tactics when playing the French?

Does anyone know if the use of stakes by English Longbows was common, if used at all, before the Battle of Agincourt?
All my research seems to suggest they were only used in the later in the 100 years war.

I am just nearing the end of the book "The Earth is Weeping" by Peter Cozzens.
Story of the Wars in America against the plains Indians. A very harrowing read at times. The cruelty of some Indian warbands and US treatment of Indian peoples by deception and lies is shocking in equal measure.
However the accounts of some of the battles, most little more than skirmishes, has fired my imagination. I am now wondering what the best DBA rules set would be to play these battles.
At the moment my thoughts are, adapt DBA 3.0 myself, use HotT, or Horse, foot and Guns.
Any suggestions?

Just purchased a dice tower as I am fed up with my dice bouncing off the table and onto the floor. I did try to make one but it looked clunky with too longer drop so still the dice bounced out.
Also awaiting delivery of a Norman army and saxon army from Irregular Miniatures. Both 2mm scale.
Looking at buying 15mm English and French 100 years war armies.

I have just finished another of my mapless Napoleonic Campaigns. This one did not last too long. The opening battle was in the Peninsular where the French crushed the the Spanish. The next battle also was in the Peninsular this time against the British led by Duke of Wellington as he was to become. French were soundly beaten losing them the political points earned for defeating the Spanish. Next event was in Europe with France invading Prussia. Prussia won. Because France lost the Penninsular war she had no reinforcements to bring back to Europe to carry on the campaign. Napoleon exiled! For now!

Back to the terrain!
I have in the past printed out and used terrain I found on Junior General web page. I used the woods from there for my woods and place trees on to it to give a 3D effect. Plus the trees can be moved to accommodate troops.

If you cringe with 10mm how about my current projects 2mm Napoleonics, 2mm World war 2 and just ordered 2mm Saxons and Norman armies, I expect you just want to curl up and die! I use DBN for Napoleonics, Pz8 for WW2 and it will be DBA for the Normans and Saxons. Then, maybe, 2mm Punic Wars! With of course DBA. I want a recount until the result says what I want Saw some strange chap with a red baseball cap on TV. He said much the same! I think he uses the same tactics as Eva Peron. Say it loud enough, say it long enough and people begin to believe you and then to reinforce the sincerity add "I would not have told you if it was not true!" As Abraham Lincoln said "You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all of the time" He said that before one of the people shot him, possibly one of those fooled some of the time.

Good luck with it, 10mm still makes me cringe but we are an open and inclusive community so each to their own. If a decision had to be made to only ever play one game system it would def be DBA for me.
