A shout out to Paul for continuing to post pictures of my armies. I used Legio Heroica figures for the foot and camel riders. For the camels I used Aasgard (I think) from Viking Forge in the USA. I had to carve off saddles to make the Legio riders fit. Technically they are incorrectly riding astride the camels rather than perched on top. The shields are made from thin plastic. For the archers who used "enormous wooden bows which few men can bend" I removed the bows and drilled out the hands for a brass wire bow. And I bought up at least a dozen shades of craft store pink and light red paints to try and capture their supposed pink (or faded red) clothing.

But as to Wyverns original question about 15mm on 60mm BW - Paul and I have several armies for RRR using that basing scheme. We coined it the EPIC look. And it does look super. We play on a 3'x3' board and use 60mm as BW. No rule changes. I also have many Napoleonic armies on 60mm bases for DBN, HF&G or DBA-HX. Drawbacks are WAY more figures to paint and limited opponents. I'll try and get Paul to post a few pictures later.

Very, very nice!!! One can see the irregularities in the hand painted shields (my preference although I have been thinking of stencils for some blazons) when looking closely, but they are still quite well done.
And (along with paulhannah's Persians) a good reason never to convert to the 'overbasing' heresy... It's a 'heresy' now ..... but everybody comes around to the true faith eventually. I will continue to spread the word.

I haven't used the army yet but I fear it may have too many "toys" leading to great confusion in the command staff.... (me). A tough choice will be to use the 6Kn or the Varangians (4Bd). The Blades could make the 8Bw quite intimidating vs other foot with their +1 flank support - all the way up to +4 (in 3.0 of course). Regardless new armies almost always go down in defeat in their first game. Or is that just my new armies.....?

Thanks for the kind words all. And thanks to Paul for taking (and posting) the pictures. To be fair to Little Big Men - the banners were purchased from that great outfit. I did make some reduced color copies for the cavalry banners however. I also took the liberty of swapping out the suggested middle bow figure on the Kavallarioi for a banner holding figure. One can never have enough flags in an army (this one sports 10). Especially with how nice the LBM ones are.

Yes, all the figures, GG and flags are from QR. Really nice figures to paint. The only glitch in that basing method (everybody facing forward) is that I sometimes forget that as WWg then can fire in all directions..... but that's just me being old and forgetful.

I'm certainly no Medieval expert (or DBA expert) and others will likely weigh in with better info but if I recall the "pikes" in the White Company were dismounted Men-at-Arms using their lances in a kind of defensive square to repel mounted troops. That would not be a good fit with Pikes in DBA which are primarily an offensive weapon (they pursue in 3.0). And giving dismounted the Men-at-Arms rear support like Pikes would be very strange. Just figure if your Blades beat back a mounted charge it was because they were using their lances in defense! And don't forget the flank support Blades give to the Lb - a nice potent defensive formation. Not many Knights will want to charge into that combination.

"Just scored 6 unpainted, vintage, Mikes Models Indian Elephants and crew on e-Bay".
The already straining support timbers in Paul's garage will soon be creaking just a bit louder with the addition of MORE Mikes Models. Believe me..... I've seen his stash.😊

I have never played a tournament game and don't plan to. We game socially 2-3 times a month here in the Rainy (at least we try and convince outsiders of that) NW corner of the US.

"rest assured that plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery"
ALL my painting is then some form of sincere flattery to somebody....... I always search the web for ideas to ahem.... "borrow" before starting a project!

Hi Paddy, I'm having my tech-guru Paul Hannah post a picture of the back of my Plaustrella for me shortly. So far that technology had escaped me. Its basically a scratch built flat cart using V-Groove Sheet Styrene and other Styrene bits. The wheels are from a cannon. Model. I also saw that impressive model you linked to. That looks much more like a WWg. But I was in a hurry to finish the army so went the faster/easier route.

And the 8Cb actually sport 12 figures. I always cram as many figures on a base as possible (and still looking good). I'm currently working on a Later Swiss army and have 10 pike figures on a 40x20 stand. Truly impressive. It takes the right figure to pull it off. For the Swiss I'm using Legio Heroica.

I used paper flags for the front of the pavise - cut to shape, glued on then touched up with some paint. You can kind of see the top of the paper on the white Pavise with the keys - didn't quite get that shape right. One of those cherished unit was my first casulty when one of Paul's Cb measly 4Cb elements QK'd it. The 8Cb are +1 in CC vs Foot and get the +1 flank support from the Carroccio in CC but none of that counts in shooting. And of course it counted as 2 elements lost. I almost left in a huff........ ;-}

I have a Tang army from Khurasan as well as at least half a dozen other Khurasan armies. I've been very happy with the figures. Well cast, easy to paint. Their service within the States is all I can comment on but its always been very reliable.

Very nice work Tony. Looks like a mix of figure companies? I think I see Blue Moon. What else?
