Photos sent to Ken for posting. There are a few figures left over so if anyone wants these let me know (free postage in the Uk) I'll take them if they are still available! Simon They're yours. I'll also throw in some leftover dust if you want it?!

Yep, those look like 4Kn alright! Ah but the problem is that despite what it says in the army lists, if you laid out this army with 7 Kn elements and your opponent was on the ball, they would know that at least 4 of them were horde, because Kn aren't an option for the dust throwing women! Admittedly which 4 elements were actually Hd would be a surprise (and would you feel you had to write this down beforehand to avoid accusations of choosing in bound 2 when maybe you had a better idea of where you really wanted them?) However if you put out 4 x 6Cv the opponent wouldn't know until the second bound what they really were! Hence one of my next projects is 4 lots of 6 bow armed cavalry chained together! Interestingly, although the army lists says you can have 4 x LH horse archers or the dust throwing women, in the text it says you can only represent them by Kn or Cv elements!

Have just posted pictures on the DBA Faceboook group showing the completed elements. www.facebook.com/groups/382414395294162If people are interested maybe someone cleverer than me (Ken?) could also post them up here for those that don't do FB?

Pictures now posted on the DBA Facebook page showing my initial attempts at dust clouds. For those that can access this I'd be interested which people think is most representative. Four of the painted figures included for context. Any of the messy blobby ones would work, but I think the one on the extreme right looks the best of the bunch. Had you thought of using kapok? I presume that's similar to the material featured in the FOW article on Facebook? Yes that looks as if it gives just the sort of effect I'm after. The cotton wool wasn't really giving the light, airy fluffy effect but tended to clump and solidify if you applied either paint or glue. Cheers

Sorry that info is lost in the mists of time as they came from the lead pile. There are two type of oxen at least, maybe some are Irregular? The figures are female peasant types I'd got from some that were going to be Horde. Ken may be able to tell you what riders he converted? At present I'm having difficulty getting the dust 'cloud' right. First I painted cotton wool. At first this just turned into a slab. If you try pulling it apart whilst it's still wet it's better but still difficult to get a 'cloud' effect. A small cotton wool cloud with PVA and then covered in sand looks ok but it needs to be fully covered to avoid seeing the white strands inside. Any suggestions welcome! try some poster paint mixed with water in an old fabreeze spray bottle or something simular...just a spray or two at a time and let it dry, getting coverage bit by bit might work? Thanks, yes I did wonder about a spray, but didn't fancy using the amount of figure paint I'd need to fill a sprayer enough to use. Actually having gone back to the small cotton wool cloud with PVA and then covered in sand that have now dried may have a possibility if they don't get too heavy with multiple coats.

I will certainly post on the DBA Facebook page, though don't expect anything like the usual standard of artwork that appears there, mine is very basic in comparison.
The production has been delayed slightly as a viral infection wiped me out for a couple of days, but I got back to them yesterday. The figures are now all painted I just need to try and see whether painted cotton wool, or painted cotton wool with some PVA and then scattered with crushed sand gives the best representation of dust. It also needs not to be too heavy so it doesn't sink from the figures.

It's an interesting question as to whether you prefer to be the one to initiate the combat or respond to it in the following turn when the line may have been broken up and there may be overlaps to exploit!

Well they’re finished and now with sheffmark for the application of paint - great fun creating them, I don’t know how historical they are but as long as the man’s happy so am I. I’ll be honest I didn’t read the army list properly I thought it was 1 hd element so when 11 oxen arrived by post I thought b****y hell what have I done!. K The man's happy! And what you've done is provide some wonderful sculptures. Paint now being applied and will be posted on FB when they're finished.

I got far too many projects going on but Def want to return to my Ork and Imperial Guard epic scale HoTT forces. Have you given up on the 'Paper' and 'Scissors' opponents for your HoTT Rock army?

There are some quite powerful dismounting armies still allowed then?
Also is there a file anywhere that lists all the Steppe armies? (Seems like something Stevie would have done?)
