Salutations,
Thinking of assembling a Feudal Spanish army, in 15mm. Did a bit of research on the Almugavars. Auxilia, or maybe Spears(F) under DBA, hill and mountain dwellers, not much armor (some with helmets and/or small to medium size shields), often dressed in furs or skins, heavy javelins or long spears.
So, suggestions on suitable figures (besides Essex' "XMED7 Generic Eastern European: Almughavar, Shieldless Javelinmen") sought. Seems to me like a lot of "Dark ages unarmored infantry" could be added to this unit - Vikings ?
Thanks for your help with this.

I've done a couple of water fixtures with a base coat of metallic silver topped with a translucent greenish-blue (Liquitex Soft Body Acrylic Phthalocyanine Blue (Green Shade) to be exact.) UPC 0 94376 92526 5 if you're looking for it.

They're renovating my apartment is September, so I've got to pack up all my stough and move out for a week. Ergo, didn't get much at H'con - some 25mm Arab LH commanders in the flea market, and 11 Crusader packs from the dealer who was selling them out, mainly dark age Celts and Spaniards
Hope to be able to take some pics of units finished over this summer, before the chaos gets too pressing.

I've read crazier things in my time ...
If I had a copy of Jenga, I might try it.

Salutations, gentlefolk !
A good while back I said I'd scan my copy of the one-point-oh rules, and send copies to whomever wanted. And then said malfunctioning electronics were keeping me from doing it. Electronics have been upgraded (sometimes it's best just to solve problem by throwing money at it.). and scan available. Is a 3.8 meg .zip file - .pdf's of seperate pages - or can make smaller chunks (Tomorrow's project - is past my bedtime already). Tried to upload the pages to the Fanaticus Wiki. Not sure if succeeded. Hope this is interesting and/or useful.

You're right. I should have 'thought twice'. Apologies.
Will pray for Mr. Bevan. Hope he recovers.

Salutations,
Was a post on TheMiniaturesPage.com, asking about them, no answers to it.
Just tried their website, outpostwargameservices.co.uk, redirects to names.co.uk, says that URL is available.
I will be very unhappy if they are gone, really liked their figures
Doth any Fanaticii have new information ?

Salutations !
If you are interested in this series of strategic level and medieval era board games (Nevsky and Almoravid now in print, others in works) (even as 'scenario generators' for miniature battles );
there's an online convention coming up, Levy & Campaign Fest, Saturday, June 4th, 2022,
program downloadable from
As I've mentioned, my preorder of Almoravid arrived last week:
The historical notes are downloadable, and are a very thorough introduction to the period, but the rulebook is not well organized, and 'learning how to play' from it is a slog. More later, if anybody wants....

Salutations ! Thanks, very much, for your comments. Have been looking for the _El Cid_ CD (have had a crush on Ms. Loren for 60 years or so ;-) ... ) To go a bit offtopic here; My copy of _Almoravid_ - www.gmtgames.com/p-861-almoravid-reconquista-and-riposte-in-spain-1085-1086.aspx - arrived yesterday, pre-publication order First glance thru: Thought it might be good for generating tabletop battles, looks like it will be. Has pieces representing 'Lords' which move on game board and onto 'battle board', and forces kept on their 'Lord's mats'. Troops are Knights, Sergeants, African Horse and Light Horse (mounted), Men at Arms, African Foot, Militia and Serfs (foot) with crossbows, slingers, javelins as additional capabilities on the 'Random Events Cards' Also markers for territory-change-of-possession, loot, provisions, carts, mules ... Box weighs at least five pounds Usually GMT has their rulebooks, etc, on webpage, available for download. Hasn't happened yet. When they do... Would strongly suggest, if you're interested in Iberia in this era, download rules and 'Background Book' (68 pages) and take a look. More later, when I've actually read the stuf. Would note that over the past fifty-five years, cost of board wargames has gone up significantly, relative to cost of miniature armies ... Sorry if babbling. Past my bedtime ;-)

Am thinking of assembling 28mm armies to refight the Arab conquest of Spain, and the centuries up thru the time of El Cid. Wondering if anyone knows of sources, or figures, for the Moors / Berbers of North Africa, in the 700's - 800's ? Drawing #105 in _Armies of the Dark Ages_, and Essex figure, is of Berber in loincloth or, maybe, early version of jockstrap, but adds "some continued to resemble Moors". And the 'Moor' drawn in AEIR could well be a Punic War Numidian. So plan is to get bunch of Numidians, Gallic Gaesati, 'biblical' figures with bare torso, and swap heads around.
What do you think ? Advice earnestly sought.

From a thread at
I am the very model of a Russian Major General
My standing in the battlefield is growing quite untenable
My forces, though equipped and given orders unequivocal
Did not expect the fight to be remotely this reciprocal
I used to have a tank brigade but now I have lost several
My fresh assaults are faltering with battleplans extemporal
I can’t recover vehicles but farmers in a tractor can
It’s all becoming rather reminiscent of Afghanistan
My ordnance is the best but only half my missiles make it there
I would have thought by now that we would be controllers of the air
But at the rate the snipers work my time here is ephemeral
I am the very model of a Russian Major General
