Today I celebrate 73 trips around our Sun. “What a long strange trip it’s been”. Aches, pains (sometimes both at once), skin of teeth escapes… a bunch of MD’s , with pills for morn and night. But all in all, it’s been worth it, am going to try, keep on my feet for another 27 years or so. Did a bit of celebrating this past weekend at Historicon (and picked up a few presents for myself at flea market)
Any friends ambling thru North Jersey or NYC, want to get together for a game, get in touch ! Love, luck and lollipops, John Desmond !
PS - New photo coming Real Soon Now

AT the Thursday night historical games at Maplewood Hobby (WWW.maplewoodhobby.com), you'll find occasional games of Tactica - and often visits from folk whose names are in that rulebook,
IMHO, problem with Tactica is that points where generals can turn/wheel units are so infrequent and so important that everyone gathers round with protractors, calipers, laser pointers ... to assure adherence to rules.

Salutations, gentlefolk ! There are seven photos of a model Roman villa here drive.google.com/drive/folders/12pw23u50NK-kJWJoZd_gyJOTPSkA8Nhi?usp=sharing ( How well does this method of uploading pictures work ? Do in future, or scrap idea ? ) I purchased the file 'Roman villa (rb024) rb024.zip' from Wargame Vault a while ago. I can still download copies from the 'my library' page, but going to the 'product' page gets 'This title is not available', and going to 'Wargame Print', the publisher, yields no results. The file lists 'http://wars175x.narod.ru/wargameprint (c) luterm', which website has some interesting 18th century military history, but the 'wargameprint' links seem to be all '404' Anyway, printed the file on 65-pound cardstock, painted the back side with tan acrylic, and assembled it, braceing the corners with scrap wood. This is nearly completed, still needs some flocking on the base and a coat of spray clear. Hypothesized that 'twas built on the Empire's north-western frontiers, where you'd want to get max sunshine in the courtyard, would be oriented differently in the desert regions ... Sorry for showing off a reification of an unattainable plan, hope you like this project, regardless.

There is a discussion on Twitter at
the Unofficial Lee Clatworthy Parody Account - @lrclatworthy "If you had to pick one British person to swear allegiance to next Saturday, who would you pick?"
I inscribed "Phil Barker (author of _De Bellis Antiquitatis_)"

Salutations, gentlefolk !
Happy Equinox to everyone greeting spring or fall ! Have gotten workbench set up after moveout / renovation / movein. Things still disordered, but first batch of new figures painted. Pictures coming sometime. Own three smartfones, all need swollen batteries replaced. Was at Cold Wars, and spent a few days befor and after con visiting friends in that neighborhood. Had great time. Picked up some books and magazines in flea market, and about 60 11th century Franks / Vikings / Arabs - US dealers of Crusader and Saga-Gripping Beast minis were having sales. Also some Bad Squiddo figures, will paint up in vignette as gift for friend. Stay healthy and happy. Good luck and good gaming !

Well, if anyone gets a 'Blob' army together, bring it to Blobfest
(Conveniently, the weekend before Historicon, about an hour's drive away) (Phoenixville is very nice town - I did some serious courting of lady who lived there, decades ago, maybe I should have married her when I had chance ... )
Happy New Year ! Go Iggles !

L'Art de la Guerre - 'peer pressure' - it's the most popular ruleset in the NYC - New Jersey - Philadelphia area, so yf you want to get a game together...

Salutations !
Things been a mess around here recently. My apartment building got bought, new landlord renovating place, so had to pack up, move out of my apartment, spend most of November in friends' basement, move back in, still getting 'workshop' unpacked. But place has new paint, kitchen, bath, floors. First world problems... But a couple of months with almost no yigures painted ....
So for 2023, first priority, finish Palmyrans, MIR, morphing Hellenistic armies - gifts for friends. First about half done, others await homemade shield decals with bespoke designs.
Then there is my 'Dark Ages Project' - basically to amass onough 'morphable' Western European plus Viking, and Arab stands, to cover most battles from the fall of Rome to the First Crusade, 1n 15mm. Also in 25mm, less comprehensive, concentrating on Iberia in El Cid's day. Then add the Byzantines, then the Sassanids - but those likely projects for '24. After that, Gauls, Marian Romans (v a unit of Khmer maiden guards ? ;-) )
So, best wishes to you and yours for a joyful Christmas, Hannukah, Solistice, Kwannza, Boxing Day, New Years, Mummers' Day, and whatever else you're celebrating, and for a healthy, happy and prosperous 2023 !
