I reckon Spanish are the best option too! However, apologies to Pete and Neil, I am unable to make this event. Have fun!

What happens when an Elephant's pursuit move post destruction of an enemy meets a friend it is unable to pass through before completing?
I expect it just stops, but I can't find any reference to pursuit interrupted by friends....

Formal Results note army is the army that finished in that position, not necessarily the army brought by the player on the same line.
Position Points Player Trophy Army Points 1 18 Martin Smith Champion IV/12e Maori 16.396007 2 13 Mark Johnson Runner-Up II/45a Slave Revolt 13.412003 3 12 Neil Mason Third II/81a Dux Brit 13.403005 4 12 Richard Pulley Strongest Army II/39a Iberian 12.397003 5 11 Pete Duckworth III/52 Norman 9.5710088 6 9 Colin O'Shea IV/10 Mound Builder American 9.5090045 7 7 Pete Whyman I/52b Spartan 7.5890063 8 7 Kevin Casey II/17b Lysamachid 6.6460065 9 6 Scott Russell Most Challenging Army II/7 Late Achaemenid Persian 6.6100052 10 4 John Saunders I/1a Early Sumerian 6.5470047 11 3 Martin Myers IV/35 Mongol Conquest 4.640005 12 3 Mark Skelton Slayer III/70 Tuareg 4.5800046
All Books represented. Slave Revolts did very well!
As for the Tuaregs, they defended against me with Early Sumerian and, whilst they did forget the larger board, the terrain did its trick, I was just lucky that bows and dice trumped camels!
Let me know what other details anyone wants...

Full results will follow tomorrow.
In the meantime thank you all for making this such a great event and for all your help and support, looking after me whilst I sorted rounds and cleaning up after.
I hope you have all had an easy journey home.
David Constable you are a star and a gentleman sir. Provider of prizes! I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Next time in the same situation; you play, no questions!

...and of course you can even specify board size, tho if it is not 2' square, you will also have to provide it. Can you? Who gets to choose the board size and if the defender, do you have to go with what's provided or could you stick to the normal 2' square one if you wanted? The owner of the army specifies board size at the outset. Any player defending with that army has to use the board size specified (and supplied as apt.) in the same way as they have to use the terrain specified and supplied. Fun eh?

I will be there. I am coming down with the Scimitar contingent. Neil Mason See you there, Neil .... Just a thought, but it might be worth noting that not only do we bring an army, but also a FIXED number of terrain items which the 'lucky' user of our armies must attempt to use if defender......picking those is a challenge in itself !! Will we see eg Skythians with maximum bad going, or Early Saxons with a postage stamp terrain piece to hide in... Best day out ever, this one. Martin ...and of course you can even specify board size, tho if it is not 2' square, you will also have to provide it.

Hi Any chance of you providing a spare table where we could run our own bring and buy, i.e. put stuff out with our name on, in case anyone was interested in buying? I think Pete did this at Mercian competition. Cheers Mark Table easily provided. Very happy to facilitate.

David, there will be plenty of armies to hand. Some are of your own origin and foot heavy! Just saying...

Congratulations to Colin.
Many thanks to all at PAWS for running.
I finished fifth, I think, narrowly missing the Finals, so feeling (and still doing so) right crock, headed straight home!
I took Italian Lombards and ended in the early group! First up Colin's Rajputs. Things went my way, Colin was pip starved with those nellies whilst I maximised optimum match- ups to go 3-1 up. Then I blinked. The gap my one loss left let Colin in and I was 5-4 loser before I knew what hit me! Next, Phil Steele's Nobades. Phil did all the moving and charged home, only to bounce off my spears. Things continued my way from then on for victory. Lindon's Bow heavy Babylonians compressed my army, I shielded my left with spears and tried to close with my knights in the centre, but it left my fast foot slightly outclassed on the right, where several 50/50 matches went the Babylonians' way, leading to a 6-3 defeat. John Saunders' Hittites charged in against my spears, much as Phil before and again bounced. I drove in on the flanks, with my knight general recklessly pursuing into trouble. Luckily escaping, his reinforcements secured the victory. Finally Bill's Warring States Chinese defended large chunks of rough going. A lot of manoeuvre saw an infantry battle on my right advance on the edge of a hamlet, with knights in wait for any successful Chinese blades following up. Despite being 2-0 up at last bound and having a series of double overlapped and gate closed chances, the Chinese riggled out of every one for a 2-0 draw conclusion. Good games, outrageous fortunes both ways and a thriller to finish...brill.
Photos were taken...I'll see if I can make them available somewhere...

I have plans to attend. 10am, given we also get an extra hour's sleep! I have no idea what I'll bring. The shortlist is still in double figures.... Last year was the first I'd missed for ages...

The Chariot miniatures are nice figures. There are actually two poses in both the archers and spearmen, which if based alternately look fine.

Perfect for December PAWS, if only the exchange rate to GBP could return to something sensible...
