Theme - celebrating the extension in period covered by version 3,0 of DBA - Early Italian Wars. If you don’t have a valid 3.0 army - no problem as loan armies are available. - IV/13d Medieval German
- IV/61 Italian Condotta (Allies 1V/61 only) - I also think that the spear (& possibly 4/8Cb ? - discuss) options should be avoided as anachronistic by the time of the Italian Wars
- IV/68 e or f Spanish Army
- IV79d Swiss Army
- IV/82b French Ordonnance
plus if people are desperate part of the War of the League of Cambrai (1508–1516) spread beyond Italy to include Flodden and the Battle of the spurs neither were in Italy but part of the conflict, so you could also take - IV16/Scotts Common
- IV/83a Tudor Army (No allies)
Early Italian Wars is an obscure period but DBA 3.0 was extended to include it (though I think several ar,my list end dates are wrong and should be 1516 to include the end of War of the League of Cambrai. The rules exclude the fourth Italian War (1521-26) which includes Bicocca - supposedly the first decisive use of firearms. Once again we will use opponents armies for the second half of the day to even up any disparities so be prepared for someone else to use your troops & bring a list. Its worth checking out the Wikipedia page to follow accounts of the battles en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_WarsI hope that helps. Mercian DBA is part of the SOA UK DBA League

It will be in Coventry UK (hence the title) date & venue TBA Thanks. As I understand it the capital of Mercia was Tamworth and the territory stretched from Cheshire to Surrey so there is quite a range of towns in the 'Midlands' to choose from.

Greetings
Will see what I can do to get there. I found my late mediaeval figures last week .... I haven't played DBA for ages and 3.0 not at all.
Note that there is quite a bit of debate about Ordonnance 'archers' in the early Italian Wars with pictorial evidence from Fornovo and Genoa in 1507 of uniformed longbow men in action. I am not yet well read up on this one.
Regards
Edward

I know a few Fornovo pictures eg: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Albanian_Stradioti_at_Battle_of_Fornovo.jpg I have not seen any longbowmen - can you point me at where I should be looking?

Venue is again CV7 8HX Keresley Community Library Bennetts Road Keresley End Coventry NB it is rather to the north of Coventry - handy for the M6 though. Try to be there ready for the 10:30 am start
Entry fee £5 to cover venue cost.
There are no handy pubs or shops so you may wish to bring refreshments. NB the library is an alcohol free zone.
We will attempt 6 rounds. For the first 3 rounds players will use their own army in the last last rounds (3 if time permits) players use their opponent's army. Bring a clear, spare list to help them.

Valentine's weekend?
This is a new concept of which I was previously unaware. Why not make it a whole month like Xmas and give up gaming for 4 weeks?

Just turn up is fine but letting me know first may avoid embarrassment were we to run out of table space. Bring a board if you can...
