First game of DBA by Skype
Sure better minds could work out how to record it as well but not mine.
We used one board at my chums rather than try to match movement on a board in each house. You prob couldn't get the really subtle moves but for a pick up game it worked really well.
I played the Mongols vs the Teutons I defended with a hill and two scrub, my opponent had a red and white dice and I got to chose dice but he rolled them both in view of camera which worked great
Blob of 6 LH in two ranks on my right, three cav including the Cv general then two LH supporting and a single LH on my left flank
His Kn and Cv facing my line with a Sp guarding the camp and one on his right flank, Cb and LH facing my LH blob on his left
I advanced everything once then the LH on my right again
He charged in with with his Kn against my LH on his left, the cross bow got no shots, the rest of his Kn and Cv advanced to ZOC but couldn't get into combat
I won a combat against a Kn with LH so quick kill to me
I moved my Cv and other LH into combat and we threw handbags at each other but his Kn General killed my Cv General, the end was nigh
Couple more turns but my LH refused to kill his Kn and his Kn killed my LH, I had to throw another Cv against his general to stop him flanking me and it was over in a couple more turns.
3G - 1 to the Tutons
Really good game only thing I would change, other then the result, is a steadier overhead view
Another game next week, as a bonus the interest in our group means others are trying it and we are doing a tourney if we ever get to see each other again. Tourney by Skype we will leave until we are locked down for 6 or more months.

Hi All Two more good games tonight vs Terry Not yet up to the Hollywood standards of Mitch and Tony but good set up. We used Skype on my tablet with the table and the dice at my end, propped it up on a tripod to get a decent view. Think we will use Microsoft Teams next week.  Terry chose the Ancient British vs my Romans for game 1. Romans got to defend and put down, two plough a wood and a gentle hill.  My cavalry managed to take out the British light horse on my right flank and the warband bounced off the blades allowing me to chose the combats next turn and took out the warboss. Game ended up a 3G-1 victory for the Romans. Game two and Terry took the British again and got to defend, as he has chariots and light horse he chose two plough a gentle hill and a wood. Terry sent his chariots onto my right flank and a light horse to have a crack at my light horse on my left  The British chariots killed a unit of cavalry before one of them was killed by artillery, the warband rushed forward into combat and killed two of my blades so 3-1 to the British  British warband then took out another blade for a 4G-1 nightmare smashing for the poor Romans  Using Skype worked really well, again you have to accept as the guy moving the figs you may have to point out things like if you move a bit to the left as you move you are lined up or out of TZ but really enjoyable quick games. An EIR vs British should always be quick and bloody in my opinion unless British hide in a wood and Romans stand outside it. |

Another good game vs Terry
My Mongols vs his Teutonic Knights, he got the terrain and it ended up two plough and a gently hill.
His boys lined up his knights in the middle with cav and light horse on his right and crossbows on his right.
I lined up as much double light horse in the centre as I could manage and cav on my left leaving my right with little for his crossbows to shoot at.
My light horse managed to take out a knight and my cav took out a lh, his turn saw me lose a lh.
Another couple of turns and I managed to take out a cav and nearly got another knight, ended up 3-4 to him.
Sooooo close

Had our regular Friday evening games.
Game 1 Philistines which I think suit Terry's nature vs my Bedouin.
Ended up in arable with two plough a difficult hill and a road.
Philistine lined up their blades protected by Aux and Psiloi with chariots on his left.
I put my Aux and Psiloi on the difficult hill which as it happens is where they stayed all game. My camels took up position on my right. I wanted to try and hang up on his chariots.
As it happens the chariots hanged up on my camels, blades drew and killed my camels, blades made my psiloi flee until they ran out of world and it ended up 7 - 1 to the Philistines.
Game 2 and I was Philistine Empire vs the Desert dwellers.
Again ended up with arable, Terry had a brain fart and placed his camels in a wood. If he did not beat me so regularly I would have reminded him of his folly. Actually not as forgetful as I thought as he hoped to clear them before combat started. My Psiloi double moved to mean he couldn't make it out whilst rest of the line advanced. My chariots flanked his infantry line and psiloi got scrapping in the woods. Some great 1-0 match ups followed.
Despite one moment when his aux bounced my entire blade wall rest went well for a 6 - 1 victory.
It is a pity the Bedouin never got to defend as a table full of dunes and oasis would have been interesting.

Another game on Friday
WOTR forces
Terry took, 1 x Kn G, 1 x Cav, 1 x Pike, 1 x Art, 4 x Lb, 4 x Bd
I had 1 x Bd G, 1 x Cav, 1 x Art, 4 x Lb, 4 x Bd, 1 x Ps
I ended up defending and we had two plough and a wood. An area of rough could not get placed and the plough stayed dry.
I had Bds with General and Ps on my left flank, artillery with bow on each side in my centre and cav hanging out on my right. Terry had his knight and cav opposite my cav with some pike and blade supporting them. His artillery bow and remaining blade off to his right.
Game started with some expansion of the lines as the blades moved off to each flank. Terry lost a bow to my artillery then threw in his knight and cav against my cav. I survived the attack and managed to kill off his cavalry with one of my bow. Blades and pike clashed with my blades on my right flank with each side trying to get another element across to start flanking. My artillery and bow in centre took pot shots at his bow and artillery. I launched an attack with my general and blades on the left as I was worried my right may start to crumble. They never made contact as a number of recoils from shooting slowed them down. Now started a four turn battle between his knight and my cav. My cav continued to recoil and his knight pursued, this eventually allowed one of my bow to flank the knight and he died on last turn by not being able to recoil.
Game went on much longer than we thought and was a reach touch and go affair until the final crumble that did not reflect how the game actually played.
I lost 2 x lb to Terry's 1 x Kn G, 1 x Cav, 1 x Pike, 1 x Lb and 1 x Bd
Game def got my WOTR stuff promoted up the painting list.
Cheers Terry and good to get one back.
Been a few days so some facts may have been ignored and other embellished to make my superiority greater, but it is close enough.

One of my clubs has temp shut again as we play out of a bar.
Back to Skype on thursday vs Terry.
Goths on one side for sure as I have just based em up, not sure I really have an opponent for them though so will have to be creative.

Two more games today vs my Skype opponent Terry.
Thursdays we play out of farm road club in Sheff but restrictions on different household has put a stop to that.
Hope the farm road gets through it as it must be tough times for them.
Game 1 Italian Ostrogoths vs my Norse
No surprise Norse were attackers.
My right wing launched into an attack against bows in the woods hoping to take em out before the knights finished shuffling into position.
Needless to say the brave bow held up to their viking foes.
Now the knights hit my blade line, two dead viking elements but also two draws so dead knights.
Fluffed my next turn meaning knights that had broken through could turn and roll up my line.
Finished 5-2 to the Goths.
Game 2 this time Terry was Norse and again had to attack.
Norse held some woods which the Goth archers started to take pot shots into protected by spears, whilst Psiloi moved round the flank.
Viking blades formed up as did their knight opponents.
Knights got to launch the attack and chose the combats. Brutal 7-0 victory to the Goths.
At aggression 4 to 1 the Norse dont get much chance to defend, littoral and some rough/ bad going and the fast blades would give the knights something to think about. Probably.
Still great games
