Today I did an audit of my armies awaiting painting. I got a shock when I counted 27 armies, and of these only 6 require additional figures to upgrade them to 3.0 standard. They range from Early Egyptian (I/2b) through to Hussite (IV/80). I think that the 1st army that I'll paint up is Lusitanian (II/39c), opting for the Sertonian version.
Cheers,

27 - wow! That’s doing well! Makes my 13 armies in the lead mountain look amateurish.

Just remember the famous wargamer's quote: "As long as you have unpainted lead, you cannot die."

27 - wow! That’s doing well! Makes my 13 armies in the lead mountain look amateurish. I too feel positively restrained with lead for only 5 armies, and figures to complete another 4.
Maybe I should buy some more?? Yeah why not!

Greg, you were surprised because you expected there were more waiting to be painted or that the pile was smaller than thought?

Greg, you were surprised because you expected there were more waiting to be painted or that the pile was smaller than thought? Keith, I had no inkling of how many unpainted armies I had. I knew that I had a few but the number astounded me. I have a sneaky suspicion that there are a number still to be discovered ! Cheers,

Today I did an audit of my armies awaiting painting... Don't ya' just hate audits. (Grins.) Your post prompted some self-assessment. While my list of "Armies Renovated to Purple Standards" is an impressive 80 and counting, I saw that I had completed zero new armies this year. (Bought several, however.) So, I'm resolved to redress that, and have just started in on the II/61 Mu-jung Hsien-pi.

Now that is a statistic where I do a bit better. I’m at “bought 5 armies, painted 6 armies” so far this year.
Painted: Communal Italian Early Crusader Early Polish Feudal English Makkan Polybian Added to that I also added bits and bobs to make a further 3 armies purple book compliant or upgrade to “all options.”
Bought: Makkan Neo-Assyrian Medieval Scandinavian Early Hungarian Tang
But I genuinely thought I had only bought 1 army this year before I did the detailed forensic analysis (i.e. looked at some receipts and then asked the wife). I think my failing is that whenever I put in an order I “make it worth while” or ensure I get free postage and that generally means I sneak in another army onto the order. Still as long as I keep on painting more that I buy then the lead mountain will reduce!

Yes wyvern - I should have said cheaper postage. Although I’ve occasionally hit a free postage offer from Alternative.
....and Yes menacussecundus I bought the Makkan army at Cavalier in Feb and had it ready for PAWS in May. That’s what comes from not having any Biblical armies when the PAWS theme goes all Book 1 in me!
