The other completion over the weekend was 1x8Cb and 1x3Ax for a Northern Sung army. When the Sung (a longtime personal favourite of mine) was divided into Northern and Southern sublists I set about getting two armies from one by plundering the boneyard, adapting a part done second Sung army and painting up a few spare figures.
The Southern Sung are fully done and have been used in competition. The Northern Sung are still to receive most of their Crossbows (3x4Cb and 3x8Cb).
These Sung are primarily Kennington miniatures with a smattering of others (such as Essex and Irregular)
However the Sung train is not yet coming to a halt. Over the past few months I have been buying the new Sung range from Khurusan and plan to make up both armies with these new figures
Cheers

Today at long last the final three Pk elements for my Scots Common are done. This project was started at the end of April 2015 and was probably originally envisaged as a DBA2 army. When 3 was finally published it was just a matter of adding in the additional options and putting the Ps element out to pasture. After they were started they were put off several times when something else shiny came up - most specifically when I started putting in the effort to bring my armies up to DBA3 compliance, and then when getting my Yuan Campaign set Purple Ready became a priority. They were folded back into the mix a couple of months ago and at long last are done. I came within a whisker of finishing the last three 3Pk for the scrap built Welsh - maybe tonight cheers

I came within a whisker of finishing the last three 3Pk for the scrap built Welsh - maybe tonight Then you would have 108 armies? Wow Yes but only briefly as the Scrap Build Welsh are slated for sale at the MOAB Bring and Buy in two weeks
The next big push will see me add the Ming Chinese and Yi Dynasty Koreans to the mix - these should take less time than irregular types as I can paint a whole strip in uniform colours.
I will also bring my existing Hsi-Hsia and Later Crusaders up to full Purple Compliance with the addition of 2x4Cb (Hsi-Hsia) and 1x3Kn (Crusaders)
I have been collecting lead since my mid teens and like to build up 13 army campaign sets - this is where the 106 have come from. Not all of them are fully stocked but by the time "Operation Purple Compliance" is done I will have a vast array of fully operational armies
Cheers

Nice looking figures Tony and Alex.
The Germans look fair Felix - as noted by others there is always room for improvement.

Sounds like a plan David. When do you propose to travel up from Canberra? Cheers, I will be leaving Canberra very early on Saturday 30th planning to arrive in time for round 1.
Heading back after we finish up on the Sunday - so the Red Wine Window of Opportunity is very much centred on Saturday evening.
I will put something nice aside
Cheers

Took a couple of pictures for the topic on suitable figs for Mountain Indians. My Fuji is washing out colors and the Argus wasn't focusing well, but thought I's go ahead an post a couple of them - All three of the Armies set out for BBDBA. Colors are a bit better with the Argus. One of the three - Fuji is really washing out the palette. And for giggles a comparison I shot with Essex on the left, some OG15 javelins I converted to clubmen for the Republicans, a Xyston guardsman (veritable Goliath), and Minifigs. They need a Minwax shading and varnish and some flocking, but...

Nice shield patterns for the Indians.
I am very surprised at the difference in scale among the figures.

As noted in another post I am also working on some Xyston Thebans. When I got out the figures for the PS I was shocked at the size discrepancy. I knew their Romans and other later lines had grown, but did no realize that the scale creep had started within the lines.
Which brings to mind the discussion on mixing manufacturers on a base or even in an army where the question is raised about differences in size - with Xyston that question occurs with just their figures.
