Thank you! Good luck to your Germans in war! I would advise you to use three colors on the shields. Even a simple two-colored shield looks better. First, apply a dark one. Then pass along the edge of the shield and in the middle of the second color. Then the thin strips are the lightest. Look at how this is done with the French crossbowmen, it's not difficult even without a picture. And more faces. They are very easy to painting. Apply dark. Then draw strips of the second color along the forehead, chin, nose and cheeks. Then put in these places just points the lightest color.

Thank you for your advice. As I said, your miniatures are little works of art. For the moment, I do not enjoy painting enough to get into shading. That would more or less double my painting time. I rely on the wash to get some degree of shading.
Are the shield patterns on the crossbowmen hand painted? I would never be able to do that. Even crude designs look too crude if I paint them ^^ If I ever paint high medieval (which might be soon), I need to get some shield decals...

Alexkalinin - superb work. A pleasure to watch. I'm not an artist, just a mere craftman, but here is my latest work:

I pulled out the paints on the weekend after too much work stopped my usual "Mental Health Break" over the last few lunchtimes.
I finished Cv and one 3Pk for the scrap build Welsh and finished off the bases for two Samurai 6Cv.
Cheers

Today the Scrap build North Welsh had two more elements of 3Pk join them - only 5 to go and the army is ready for the Bring and Buy at MOAB.
The last three elements of my Scots Common were also given a light touch and so are nearly done. Hopefully all finished by the end of the week (I have a couple of days off and plan to paint, prepare for MOAB and binge watch The Last Kingdom)
Cheers
