Thanks Martin. Makes it clearer. I can do several of those but may need to get my brushes out if I want to be competitive.

Thanks Martin. Makes it clearer. I can do several of those but may need to get my brushes out if I want to be competitive. NB- it's DEFINITELY not a difinitive list... the organiser, in original post, sez as much. Other armies might be allowed eg. All I've done is try to list some contenders.

Just noted the list Martin. Good bit of research there.
Something for everyone. Some LH options as well.

What’s it with you and LH Phippsy? Well, he beat me with a daring move by his Andalucian LH.....I now tremble at the thought of LH on my flanks 😵

What sort of numbers are you hoping for, Ivan? And what is the deadline for registering? Hi, sorry for a slow reply - I was on the other side of the world and out of civilisation for a while... The way things are looking, you should be able to register right up to the event - possibly on the door too. There are still enough spaces and some flexibility should we end up with more than 16. Having said that, it would be useful to know the numbers in order to prepare terrain and also so I can arrange prizes in proportion to participation.

This is my ‘best guess’ at the armies which MAY fit the bill for the theme.....organiser suggested it should be armies for/against the Roman Republic. Could anyone spotting anomalies please post here ? Armies and Enemies of the Roman Republic, 500-25 BC. Rome- I/59 Tullian Roman II/10 Camillan Roman II/33 Polybian Roman II/49 Marian Roman Enemies- I/7d Early Libyan I/36abd Italian Hill Tribes I/47 Illyrian I/48 Thracian I/55cde Latin, Umbrian I/57ab Etruscan II/5 egh Later Hoplite Greek II/8 abc Campanian etc II/9a Syracusan II/11 Gallic II/13 Samnite II/14 Ariarathid Kappadokian II/19cd Seleucid II/20cd Ptolemaic II/23a Nomad LPIA II/27b Pyrrhic II/28ab Armenian II/30bc Galatian II/31gij Hellenistic Greek II/32ab Later Carthaginian II/34 Attalid Pergamene II/35 Later Macedonian II/37 Parthian II/39abc Ancient Spanish II/40 Numidian II/44 Commagene II/45abc Slave Revolt II/47 abdg Early German II/48 Mithridatic II/51 Late Judaean II/52 Dacian II/53 Ancient British Everything on the list is fine - thanks Martin. There are of course more and if you'd like to take anything other than these let me know - I will confirm.

still not 100% sure and would need to borrow an army for it if so. Need to work out when I move and if I have the kids or not (dont think i do tbh so more if im moving around then or not!) I also have a few armies which you could borrow. Off the top of my head: Later Carthaginian Polybian Roman Numidian Gallic Later Hoplite Greek Ancient Spanish Samnite Some of these I have in multiples, but I don't have all the options for all the lists painted. They are all nicely painted (if I say so myself!), but some picked up a few chips, which I'd try and paint over before the event.. If you would like any of these let me know - I'd also be happy to paint up the options if I have the figures (which I do in may cases :-)

Question, when you say ‘prepare terrain’ are you referring to bringing boards and terrain pieces, or are there pre-set terrain boards (in which case my army choice might be affected). Martin

Thanks, it's good to be back! At least the sewage system works :-)
Regarding terrain, there will be terrain boards provided (essentially, 60x60cm flocked tiles, some of which have a waterway at the side for littoral) and the placement of terrain pieces will be up to the players. The terrain pieces are mostly cloth cut outs, onto which pieces of terrain will be put - e.g. a dark green cloth piece with a few trees individually mounted on 2p coins is a wood, etc.
There should be plenty of terrain pieces, but the supply is not limitless. If a particular piece is key to your tactics (e.g. fort or edifice) I would suggest you either let me know beforehand or bring yours.
I have no problem with people bringing and using their terrain pieces in any case.

Just a little reminder - it is now a month until the event.
We still have enough spaces, so I expect you will probably be able to decide later and/or turn up on the day. However, it would be useful to know the numbers (approximate) beforehand in order to organise the prizes proportion. I'd appreciate if anyone still intending or wishing to come (other than those already registered) could drop me a PM so I can gauge the numbers.
Otherwise, we are ready, apart from a few pieces of BUA which are being constructed and prizes are on the way!

Since Tullius was a King, does that fit the definition Republic?
Not in my book.
David Constable
P.S.- He was also an Etruscan.
2nd P.S. - Without rules difficult to check, however, a lot of lists might well begin or end at 400B.C., if so it would be better to start at 399 or 395B.C.
