I don't want to burst anybody's bubble here, but you do know Paul has elves come in at night after everyone is asleep and do the painting for him don't you! I mean how else could he do so many as quickly as he does. He painted all of my King Arthur HOTT armies for me and I have had many enjoyable games with them. He is a one of a kind marvel, Paul is!
Terry
PS - He and David Crenshaw got me into this world of DBA and Paul specifically introduced me to HOTT, which is my favorite rule set!

Yes, they are all Essex figures. The Bashis are converted from other range Ottomans if memory serves, or the one in the small cap may even be a Spanish guerrilla Peninsula War figure. I used some pics I found on the net and my old copies of S&S for creating them.
Interesting, I did not know the rules were ever mentioned anywhere.
Bob, just sent them to you in an email.

Goragard,
We've had many fun games with HOTE. Since Chris took down the old Fanaticus site where we had them, if you'll send me a PM with an email address I'll send them to you.
Martin,
Glad the pictures are of some help. The Bashi Bazooks are on a 40 x 30 base as we felt that skirmishers in the period of rifles needed to be more able to cover greater ground. I don't have my set of rules in front of me, but if I remember correctly we allowed them to play as several options, with the caveat that once you declared it that option had to remain for the entire game. For me, painting the Bashis was the most fun.

It's finally done and I had some sun today so was able to take some pictures of the finished Law Stronghold. This was a really fun project, and one that kept growing as I was working it, i.e. I kept seeing things I could do to add to it. Plenty of very tiny bits, but I am thinking the stop sign on the gate was the toughest. Took 4 tries before I got one that I felt was acceptable. It's only 3 MM across and the decal is only 2 MM across! Took about 6 weeks to complete entire model. The model is 6 MM scale and sits on a 60 x 80 MM base. Again, the building is a modified Leven model, the police cruiser and semi trailer are modified Irregular models, the police officers are from Dark Star (they're supposed to be space guys - but with a different paint job made dandy police in riot gear), the Jersey walls and the two barrels are Perfect Six, the corrugated metal for the walls is cut from plastic sheeting, and the tires are wooden beads I got off EBay from Australia. The lamp post, spotlights in the back, and flood lights on the large front sign are hand made, and the barbed wire is very thin copper wire stripped from a short piece of electrical cord I got at the hardware store. The decals are all custom made from Miscellaneous Miniatures. The street is matt board from an art picture framing shop, and the sidewalk is bass wood sealed and sanded smooth. OK, now it's off to the next project! Terry

A sallow that tends toward a yellow is a good match for goblin skin, but not too much yellow in my book. I used a hobby store color Creamcoat Bamboo 02657 for the Orkneys in my Jadis, Queen of all Narnia army, and am very pleased with how it looks. May be hard to really see their skin color, but here they are if that is of any help. Terry

I am not one for green orcs. I do not recall any mention of such in Tolkien. As has been stated already, they were fallen elves. Some of the orcs in Tolkien had ashen colored skin, probably from being burned by the sun, but they were bred so it didn't bother them. Mine are various shades of browns, taupes and dark grays.

Hi Martin,
I went with the white uniform, but if memory serves the artillery is in blue. If there's some sun tomorrow I'll take some pics for you. The most fun to me was painting up some foot Bashi Bazooks, which I modified from some other Arab Essex figures.
Hope you enjoy HOTE as much as we do.

Martin, looking really good. I have an Dervish army and an opposing early Egyptian army, but they haven't seen much action lately. Let me know how you like the game. We always found them to be fun.

I'm very grateful to Simon for picking up the leadership of this new Leg, and he has already hit the ground running. This is going to be an exciting tournament this year, with the theme being "Land of Giants" - any army that includes at least one Behemoth. However, theme armies are not required to participate, and most Legs probably have loaner armies available.
This brings the total number of Legs to 11 now, and of course others are welcome!
Thanks Simon!

Here is a progress update on the Law Stronghold. I am nearly finished and am closing in on doing so. A few more bits with the entrance barrier being the last thing to make yet. Funny thing, when I made the streetlight, which I copied from the one outside my house, I made it based on research I'd done regarding streetlights being typically between 20 and 25 feet tall. So I originally made it like 23 MM tall, or 23 feet tall. Got it all nice and painted, sprayed on the protective coats and went to mount and in testing the location first I got to thinking - that sure does look tall. So I went back and studied the one out front, and did more research on line about streetlights and voila! The style I was making usually runs 17 to 18 feet tall, or for my model 17-18 MM. The taller ones at the 20-25 foot height are the more modern looking L shaped streetlights. So, there was nothing for it but to hope I could shorten it and not have to make a new one. Of course I came to this realization at midnight so after several attempts I figured a way to loosen the base, using two pair of pliers and a small hammer!!!, which allowed me to shorten it, and repaint it. Oh yeah and it was by then approaching 2 AM! But I'd not have slept anyway knowing it was wrong!!! So here is where it is after some work done today, and again closing in on finishing it. More soon, Terry

The theme for he 2018 Good, Bad and Ugly International HOTT Tournament is
Land of Giants
A theme army is any army that has at least one Behemoth in it. This should be a very open-ended theme and still allow for some very creative armies.
There will be multiple Legs around the world and as I get confirmation of them I will post the location, Leg Coordinator and any other details.
I am excited and looking forward to another fun year of the GBnUIT!
