32 Muslim crossbowmen were given an undercoat today. These will flesh out two armies for Granada.
Enjoyed a few battles between the Portuguese and Islamic Berber so much I decided to add Granada to the Later Medieval collection.

I am building a 15mm LdV army but have no stronghold and am looking for inspiration. Any suggestions? I have a 15mm LdV tank but are there any flyers available? Believe it or not, I would recommend viewing the Assassin’s Creed 2, the Game Movie. Da Vinci plays an important role in the story including his flying machine. A stronghold can be any one of the many towers that filled a city’s skyline as these were a final refuge for the feuding families. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJcZ8SpBpOg&list=PL1cvljv8vQmRGd0tq8bezyN0QFHHtnoEe&index=46

A separate thread, such like those covering books, read, latest purchases, or currently painting, could be dedicated for ‘inspiring’ movies. Aside from the title, a link to IMDB (International Movie Data Base) would and why it is inspiring. What else would you like to read? Historical University papers or podcasts could be useful too perhaps? I just thought something like the resource section that used to exist on the old fanaticus, but not taking up space by being references to other sites using all forms of access to media which could help new and existing players find material on armies they wish to build or take an interest in. A resource thread seems a better option and inspiring films could become a sub-category of it. The search tool here leaves much to be desired. Could information be presented in such a way to make later searches less frustrating? Perhaps Stevie has a few suggestions?

That might prove useful, but a Google search “top 100 historical films” will produce quicker results. Thats fine if your doing Early or Late Imperial Romans or happy to include WW2 or other periods in the list.😊 If your looking for something more specific you either have to use the name of a battle(if your lucky enough to have it), the name of the ruler/general and the people/nation that you are searching for. Kings & Generals list of videos are expanding but there are still huge gaps in their range, for instance Chinese history videos between the Three kingdoms and Ghenghis Khan only possibly has one video on Tang China(if that is a K&G video?) Which is a period of over 900 years. A separate thread, such like those covering books, read, latest purchases, or currently painting, could be dedicated for ‘inspiring’ movies. Mounted Infantry
The refurbishment of the late medieval collection was completed quite some time ago and progressed to a period of expansion. This is now complete with the latest addition of Scandinavians and the Khanate of Kazan. The final phase will address one of the gaps omitted; mounted infantry. dbagora.blogspot.com/2021/05/mounted-infantry-in-dba3.html

The two command of the Kazan Khanate are now based. Next step, the groundwork and a dozen flags.

It is worth the watch. Also recently released, The Legend of Tomiris, is based on the queen who repelled the Persian incursion of the Scythian steppe land. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A23S3Lu9oT4

At the Slingshot Forum, the cavalry wedge has reappeared.
New links to German online libraries have produced some interesting monographs on the military text book written by Philip von Seldeneck in the late 1480s (see IV/13 Medieval German Army list).
One describes the ‘spitz’ comprising of several smaller formations supporting the wealthier knights, these are armed with crossbow or lance taking a position on the left and right flank of the wedge. This same formation was used by Frederick I at the Battle of Seckenheim, 1465, were von Seldeneck was present.
Surprisingly, this formation describes a Polish Banner of a later century; Polish winged hussars in centre, flanked by bow and lance armed Pancerni.

A bit late (flu), nice scenario write ups and AARs. When looking at command demoralization are you rounding up? I.e. a break of 4 for a 10 element command. Leaves them not quite as brittle while with your 8, 10, and 6 element commands gives potential army demoralization a bit closer to the standard 1/3. Welcome back goragrad, The break point remains 8 for the entire command; therefore, the vanguard (2.6 is 3), the main division (3.3 is 3), the rear guard (is 2). The intent of demoralisation is to remain as close to the standard rule set, while challenging a player to review their general mode of game play. Players working toward BBDBA may enjoy this as an interim step to that goal.

This has me wondering if the likes of Achians and Trojans with dismounting chariot 4Bd (dismounting allowed) supporting their Sp or Eastern Frank's with dismounting Swabians, Early Byzantines with 6Cav and Bd foot or Medieval Germans with their Sp supported by 6Kn could be worthy solutions to match the Blade line? This is exactly what happened at the Battle of Leuven, 891 AD, when the Bavarians dismounted to seal the fate of the Heathen Army on the banks of the River Dyle.

Started reading A Military Life of Constantine the Great by Ian Hughes. This may push me to paint the replacement legionnaires for my Late Roman Army.

Here, some of the longest games played were between Middle Anglo-Saxon (III/24b) vs. Viking (III/40b). Needless to say, these do not come out of their boxes very often.
Of the spear heavy Dark Age armies, I would use the Middle Frankish (Neustria or Aquitaine); 6 x levy spearmen, but supported by knights, warband and skirmishers.
