Believe it or not, I would recommend viewing the Assassin’s Creed 2, the Game Movie. Da Vinci plays an important role in the story including his flying machine. A stronghold can be any one of the many towers that filled a city’s skyline as these were a final refuge for the feuding families. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJcZ8SpBpOg&list=PL1cvljv8vQmRGd0tq8bezyN0QFHHtnoEe&index=46

At 260 minutes it is rather long for research but a quick skim suggests renaissance/florentine tower houses. As you say, in the fifteenth century these were standard urban homes for the gentry in Italy. Posted by Baldie28 minutes ago Got to be a turtleGreat idea but who produces one of a suitable size!? Also, it might be confused as a Behemoth.

Hello You can have a look at this army here. dbahott.free.fr/article.php3?id_article=40The camp, not pictured, is just a medieval house. But a tower or a model of a castle would be nice for this type of army. Yours sincerely Claude

Yours sincerely Claude Some impressive stuff there, although I am not sure Pegasus or Angels would be the right solution to flying, albeit the flying boat is an interesting alternative, if a bit flawed. Pity so many of the links no longer operate.

I am building a 15mm LdV army but have no stronghold and am looking for inspiration. Any suggestions? I have a 15mm LdV tank but are there any flyers available? Hammurabi, I have a DBA Communal Italian Florentine army that I have added some elements to so I can play it as a HOTT army. Flyers - use these Dwarven flyers from RPE. I haven’t painted them yet but have them in my unpainted pile. The pilot is a bit short and rotund but should be OK. www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/shop/demonworld-15mm-c-76/demonworld-classic-c-76_151/dwarves-c-76_151_97/4423-bat-dwarven-glider-with-ram-and-separate-pilot-p-2384.htmlRPE also produce LdV looking artillery to use in a HOTT army. The thing I’d love to model is LdV’s scythed chariot where gears and wheels mean that the spinning blades run on wheels in front of the horses. No idea how to do that. I also added the Alternative Armies LdV tank, plus the Alternative Armies LdV mounted figure with two other mounted figures from AA to act as a knight general or Cleric. The foot LdV model I based on a 40 x 40 base along with a 3D print of Michaelangelo’s David (from Florence) to act as either a Magician or a Stronghold. I have a couple of spare David’s if you are interested. I know the model that I want to use as my real stronghold - and that is a tourist model of Florence’s Duomo that I saw last time I visited but never bought because I was stoopid. PM me and I’ll send you photos.

The Uffizi Gallery is great and I much enjoyed my visit ... in 1990 [gulp]. It was finding, and purchasing, the Alternative Armies LdV tank that has started my search for finding the components of such a HOTT army.
