A completed IV/13a Medieval German army (1106-1150AD)..of the Wendish Crusade 1147AD...based on the army of Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony & Bavaria and brother in law of Richard I of England. I've tried a new basing technique to give a Northern European rather than my Dusty sandy look and I like the outcome. Danish and Early Polish contingents to follow once I've completed the Late Amorites. This afternoon I looked through the ‘bits and pieces’ box before ordering any Dark Age figures. The search proved profitable.
Blue Moon Norman knights (personality pack), 6 pieces. Old Glory Breton cavalry, 3 pieces. Thistle and Rose cavalry, 8 pieces (will pass as Scots, Welsh or Slav) Blue Moon Germanic cavalry, 1 piece to complete an element.
The 18 mounted will make 4 command elements and 2 cavalry. Cleaning and assembling weapons, shield and rider to mounts will begin tomorrow.

Listening to the audio book “ The Jewel in the Skull” while painting. During the late 60’s, the Moorcock books were a favourite read, listening to the audio book brought back the images I had of the war towers and troops wearing animal styled helmets. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpHxvsBXIFY&t=1532s

Blue Moon Miniatures have added the Late Imperial Roman to their list of ancients, photos can be seen at The Miniatures Page. theminiaturespage.com/news/?id=116758692 The Late Imperial eastern army was recently completed (Dec. 2023), no need for another army. That said, the cavalry and command figures will prove useful.

Thanks to Alternative Armies, today I have a new 15mm Wraith on a flying pterodactyl. I need to base the mini, but I use flat steel bases for my 15mm HotT armies. How do I afix a brass rod to a flat 40mm x 40mm steel base securely? Build up a pedestal with green stuff around the rod? Glue a small bead to the base to help hold the rod upright? Might have a brass cone I can take from a fishing fly...? Suggestions and examples welcomed - thanks! Bend one end of the brass rod to form a ‘V’ shaped foot. The length of the two sides is dependent on the weight to be carried. Draco Standards dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/11/late-roman-draco-standards.html

The Huns. The first command are done but remain on their plinths. The painting sequence was changed for the second command. These will be ready for detailing tomorrow. The second batch of Huns (27 figures) are done. Comparing the two, the first seem dull. Still on their painting plinths, highlighting a lighter shade will fix this. Tomorrow, basing 24 elements can begin.

I came across this source of illustrations of Sicilian and German Knights in Europe during the 12th Century which provide very good images of armour, weapons,Shield devices and banners as well as an idea of the colour of clothing used during this time period...and thought it too interesting not to share. warfare.gq/12/Liber_ad_honorem_Augusti_th.htmGood illustrations, thanks for sharing. Interesting, both sides used man-powered stone throwers at Salerno.

As part of teaching myself the rules of DBA, I'm making a presentation / Youtube video teaching the rules (the best way to learn is to teach). There are great YouTube videos out there already demonstrating the game, but I'm making something with animated diagrams etc. My aim is to be as organized and concise as possible and demonstrate the game in a way that will put the game within reach of younger players that aren't going to watch a long video or be able to understand the rulebook. I'm looking for a high resolution picture of each element type and each type of terrain. Does anyone have a collection of these kinds of pictures that I can have permission to use as part of my tutorial video? PM sent.

Rome and the Jewish Revolt
The Jewish Revolt test games have been uploaded. The Roman Tour against ten opponents is complete. Rome’s win ratio did improve using the double size command of 24 elements. To review the Roman Tour, click on the “ Index” link, and scroll down to Roman Tour 24 listing the enemies. dbagora.blogspot.com/2024/01/rome-and-jewish-revolt.html

My order of Blue Moon Huns (2 commands) arrived Thursday. Spent Friday cleaning and assembling upper torsos to lower bodies.
These replace the Old Glory Huns currently filling the ranks of Alani.
