Firstly, apologies for my rant-inducing post. That certainly wasn't my intention! Just wanted to inject a bit of caution into the discussion - no fear of change here, but there is certainly a sense of exasperation and frustration of change for the sake of change.
Secondly, at no point was I thinking of DBM, DBMM, or BBM^3, or DBM to any other power. I was more thinking of game systems like Lion Rampant, L'art de la Guerre, Mortem et Gloriam, and I assume there are more out there. I haven't played any of these, but I understand them to be just other ways ways of having wargame-y fun.

Stevie, please bear in mind that the move from 2.2 to 3 caused the DBA community a not-insignificant loss of players who were not in a position to learn new rules, as well as a fair bit of frustration for continuing players who were told to expect "unchanged" army lists. The rules can be considered adequate, and if they aren't then at least there are other rulesets out there.

Good Afternoon Hive Mind,
Is anyone here from the Halifax area in Canada? A good friend of mine has recently moved there, and might be interested in a spot of DBA, or possibly other wargames/associated hobby aspects. I'll pass the details of any responses on to him.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Ditto, these are very practical and cover the majority of measuring situations. My other tools are empty bases with push pins as handles, one for each base size.

That's right Colin. It's a statistical fact that a 1/1296 chance comes up 9 times out of 10.

Excellent Pete. It will be good to see you again. I'm just finishing the bases of a DBA army prize - a bit of flock and a few tufts and I'm there. Colin TUFTS!!!

Vic - Excellent post. Honestly, from your posts and some of the photos I've seen of Spanish armies like timurilank's 2nd Punic War blog, I'm starting to think of just picking up an additional 24 figures to build out the 4Ax for the Iberians. It seems the tunic colors all range from white with red trim to light brown, blue, green for all of the Spanish factions. The major color distinction on most of the painted armies I've seen is the shields but it also an assortment of colors not uniform like the Roman legion scarlet. So why not just base an additional 6 elements have the ability to field two different armies? The Celtiberian or Iberians. I thought basing would be an issue, but my understanding is 3 blade and 3/4 auxilia all have a 20mm depth base. Colin your paint scheme on the Celtiberian army is really good. Your correct Craig, 20mm base depth is good for all of those. Additionally, if you were so inclined, you could count an element with 3 figures to a base as either Blade or Auxilia, so long as it was obvious to an opponent. Mark
