At the Cresent and Cross themed event at MOAB (Sydney - October 2023) I was well and truly spanked by the Ottomans.
And that was after so many practice games leading up to the event where my Dancing Christian Nubians gave the Ottomans by the same player a decent seeing too.

Cancon is nearly upon us and with 30 entries in the tournament the results will heavily influence the results
Everyone listed above could still be in the hunt

Hi Martin
you may want to see how you might adapt the East Coast Australian DBA system to HOTT
Ours gives a flat rate for a win --> 8 points
for non wins we give * 1 point per element killed to a max value of 3 (For DBA we do not differentiate double based elements {first one counts as 2} or elements that don't count towards victory {Hd, SCh} for these points; * 1 point for killing a general; * 1 point for capturing a camp or city; * 1 point for a loss;
So a win is always 8 points - that way your winners are all equally ranked regardless of whether they won due to a lucky general kill in round 1 or slogged it out and only won after killing 7 vs 5 {that happened to me once) - otherwise you get angry players ("I'd be on top if it wasn't for Gerald over there getting to fight a Wb army in the open with his Kn army" grumble, grumble "its all the fault of the draw"). A loss can range from 1 point up to 6 points (I really want to see the day that someone kills 3 elements (including the general) and takes the camp but still loses A drawn game scores between 0 points and 5 points
It should be a matter of adapting the non win points to suit HOTT
Cheers

A productive (extended) weekend at the painting table 1xCv for the Macedonian Early Successor (Polyperchon) 1x7Hd and 1xPs for the Palaialogan Byzantine 1xSp for the Communal Italian - thus completing the army just a week short of 12 months since I started the army and a month beyond the end of the campaign I'd hoped to use them in I also put the first dabs on paint onto a Sea Peoples army Cheers

Last month we completed the final session of our DBA Campaign - The Longshsank Shuffle and we managed to get one last complete year done, with all seats filled but one and the Ulstermen did quite well despite being played as a program leader. I apologise for taking so long to get this synopsis finished but Christmas and all that ....
1305 Spring
The Holy Roman Empire attacks Denmark. Battle of Kiel is an overwhelming victory for the Danes despite a last minute rally by the Germans.
Milan marches on the Holy Roman Empire and blockades Trent. The city holds out.
France also pounces on the teetering empire and besieges Cologne.
Navarre drives deep into France, assisted by the Flemish. The battle of Orleans sees the Navarrese/Flemish force overwhelm the French cutting down most of their knights.
England moves north to recapture York from the Holy Roman Empire. The city refuses to surrender and is besieged.
Ulster erupts from their capital to drive out the Islemen. The battle of Dublin is a hard fought affair but ends in a convincing victory for the Ulstermen after they capture the enemy camp.
Connaught breaks off its alliance with the Isles and assaults Killbegan. The city is recaptured by the Irish.
Scotland launches an offensive into Danish held territory. The battle of Carlisle is a brutal victory for the Danes who cut the heart out of the Scots army.
Summer
The Danes pursue the Scots to the gates of Dumfries, but fail to catch the army as it slips out and retires to Stirling. The citizens refuse to surrender and the city is placed under siege.
Milan’s siege of Trent continues but makes no headway.
Flanders drives further into France assaulting the capital itself. Paris’ walls are manned courageously by the remnant French army and it beats back the besiegers inflicting significant losses.
The English siege of York continues with no further progress.
Ulster marches on the remaining Isles enclave trapping the Islemen inside Wexford. Their attacks make no impact on the city.
Scotland launches a counteroffensive and attacks Dumfries. The Danish army drive the Scots back from the walls, inflicting a horrendous toll on the assaulting Scots.
Autumn
The Danes sally forth from Dumfries and the remnant Scots army retires before them.
Milan’s siege of Trent continues with no headway made by the besiegers.
The Flemish siege of Paris continues but the stalwart defence by the French army keeps them at bay.
England continues to batter at the walls of York to no avail.
Ulster continues the siege of Wexford but the city, bolstered by the Islesmen on the walls, continues to hold out.
The Islemen then sally out forcing the Ulstermen to retreat.
At the end of 1305 peace is restored by Papal Envoys – with final prestige awarded the prestige table ends as:
Denmark – 53.6 Navarre – 41.2 Holy Roman Empire – 37.8 Scotland – 32.8 Ulster – 31.7 Flanders – 30.3 Milan – 27.9 England – 24.2 Connaught – 23.4 The Isles – 18.0 Wales – 17.2 France – 16.3
Get ready for next year's campaign - set during the early Successor era.
Cheers

As I had around 108 armies at the time of DBA3 publication I was not going to engage in that level of bulk rebasing, and so after that I have continued with the narrower bases for consistency's sake as I approach the 180 mark. I had a small amount of flak thrown my way at the last campaign I ran by the Medieval Irish and Scots Isles players - but I revel in the fact that my close order troops get to exit the rough and bad going more quickly, and can recoil 3 times when their flank is turned before running into the main line Cheers

After my extended painting pause as I ran around this corner of the country doing the Christmas stuff, I settled back in once we came back from our holiday - and Wf(X) and the younger of the (not so) little warbands headed away to visit other relatives. (The older of the (not so) little warbands was house sitting)
I finished 1xEl for my Asiatic Early Successor (other) 1xCv, 1x4Pk, 1x4Ax and 1xPs for my Macedonian Early Successor (Polyperchon) 1xCv for the Palialogan Byzantine 1xWWg for my Communal Italian - this makes the army battle ready (ie I can field my preferred 12 element army)
Cheers

After the briefest of interludes back at work the family and I took off for the Xmas break to the NSW Central Coast. During that short holiday I finished 'Babylon' by Robert Fabbri, another excellent story in his "Legacy of Alexander" series. I am racing against time to finish off the armies required for a DBA Campaign that was inspired by this series.
The next book I powered through was "Fallen Idols" by Alex Von Tunzelmann an analysis of the recent bout of statue smashing that caused such a stir and then a series of brief histories of 12 statues that were taken down over the years. Very good.
Once back at home I picked up "I Wouldn't Start From Here" by Andrew Mueller the irreverent commentary of various world trouble spots and issues by a sarcastic Australian journalist, quaint in some spots as it is 15 or so years old and the world has moved on since it was contemporary. But his phrasing and insight is quite amusing. I loved this book.
Now I am reading "The Ruin of the Roman Empire" by James J. O'Donnell a narrative history of the decline of the Western Roman Empire.
Cheers

I took "A Brief History of the Boxer Rebellion" on my recent Melbourne trip and finished it over the weekend. My next book was "Fishing in Africa" by Andrew Buckoke a narrative of late 20th Century/Early 21st Century African history and politics. Both were good reads.
For the flight home I dived into 'Babylon' the fourth of Robert Fabbri's Legacy of Alexander series
