I've played several games on a 2x2 board with the ottomans. I got spanked repeatedly. I'm not sure what to do with all that light cav and how to protect that cannon or the bows.
I heard they're a tough army to win with, but I don't think I have a game plan with them besides hope the cannon and bows can break up their formation and then exploit whith the cav

I cannot remember the details, but they bit me on the a**e when I played them. đ”đČđČđČ

I suspect Baldie is probably right because id the low CF of LH I find a similar thing with the Huns, you can use their mobility to get flank attacks in, then nada. Bwâs and Art are one of those things that never do anything for me, yet somehow seem to decimate me when I go against them.

That depends on your opponent. (But without knowing, I would take the Kn.) And concerning LH, somehow here in the strategy forum are some very good hints, like the "donut terrain": if you choose the terrain, then put it in the middle, so you can split up your army... Exploit every small advantage of your LH: - second or third moves! (Roll high for Pips) - no phantom overlap when fighting at the battlefields edges. So lure your enemy away. - a nightmare against Kn (if supported) because of their quick kill - a threat for the enemy camp (camp followers have +0 against mounted) - if superior in numbers deadly against Wb in the open (LH support LH +1 from behind) - command range is 20 BW! Threaten the rear and the flanks! - play timidly for Pip drain: wait for your opportunity, and attack only in overwhelming force, on flank and rear - use your Ps wisely as a link and flank guard of your LH - your LH may give and receive surprising support when dashing through gaps between the lines. - and always beware of Art or Bw! You see: so many possibilities. LH heavy armies are really hard to play, but they may give nailbiting games, for you and your opponent.

Iâve always found them to be very close run things - LH can be a fickle mistress one day they are world beaters the next the next ânah no thanksâ you need a lot of things to go your way.

At the Cresent and Cross themed event at MOAB (Sydney - October 2023) I was well and truly spanked by the Ottomans.
And that was after so many practice games leading up to the event where my Dancing Christian Nubians gave the Ottomans by the same player a decent seeing too.
Cheers

Ah, I forgot one: If possible go for the bigger board (80cm x 80cm). More room for movement.

if you choose the terrain, Being Agg 4 , they will be attacking most of the time . O.k. Same old problem. Crap armies with high aggression. Then insist on a bigger battlefield...

I've never been too fussed about choosing the terrain and happier being on the attacker.
