"Rivers are neither good nor other going" Elements that Pursue must therefore pursue into a river. Correct ?
When an element "dices for the state of a river" is it deemed to be in the river ?

Here in Christchurch New Zealand gamers of other rule sets are digging out their old 25/28mm armies and playing BBDBA rather than standard DBA in 15mm. DBMM never achieved a following here where as DBA has been played constantly for many years. I expect the numbers of 25/28mm BBDBA players to increase with the demise of FoG AM here. All good for DBA v3

With respect to the waterway question I don't believe the positioning described defines the intent. I base this on the additional wording in the Big Battle section where it clearly states all elements must deploy within 1BW of the waterway. I find it hard to accept deployment is restricted to a smaller area in the larger game. re BBDBA twrnz, the rules state "this ( BBDBA ) differs from the standard version only as described below" One would read from this that the Standard Version of the DBA rules re deploying from waterways " At least 1 element of the group must touch the waterway " is totally different from BBDBA. Something to think about ?

Thank you Bob, makes sense what you say. Those were basically my thoughts too but second opinions are always worthwhile. Yes much water abounds here as we have a campaign running where defending provinces/homelands requires very defensive tactics at times.

Had a game recently where my opponent landed a column of three elements grouped as a column at a 45% ( approx ) angle to the waterway with the left rear corner of one element touching the waterway.
I thought this looked a bit dodgy but the rules state "At least 1 element of the group must touch the waterway."
Was this Littoral Landing legal ?
During the course of the battle there were several combats in the river which gave cause to study the rules on Fleeing, last paragraph.
The rules state "It is destroyed if it starts................., or if it enters any river."
If an outcome result stipulates 'flee' is an element that is in the river destroyed or does it flee out of the river ?
The fact that the fleeing element is not entering the river ( it's already entered ) when the flee rule states "enters any river" is somewhat confusing.
Thanks

Would the Sumerian Spearmen's leather & felt studded capes be of a uniform colour or a mixture of red, green and buff within formations ?
i.e. should I have each stand of spearmen the same colour ?
Thanks

4BW... The early set (non-published... sorry guys) of diagrams show the deployment area as 4BW in from the edge. This is as the rules directly state. A camp may be deployed on a waterway or rear edge. Please note that the waterway must comprise the player's rear edge. This was clarified in the FAQ. (It prevents some weird setup configurations with long thin camp with arty deployed forward.) Does that answer your question? Joe Collins Yes it does, thanks Joe. Camps done & dusted

How does this change when using an allied contingent? I find that Allied commands being restricted to 12 elements, and only 12 elements... no more or less, a negative aspect of using allies.

The DBAv3 rules state " It must be in GOOD GOING (except plough ) on the rear edge of its sides deployment area or on a waterway or beach, and etc "
Question 1, Does the Deployment Area include the 2 BW - 4 BW section of the Rear Edge which the Rules state " Cavalry, Light Horse, Camelry, Mounted Infantry and Auxilia or Psiloi must deploy at least 2 BW away from battlefield side edges and others at least 4 BW away"
ie Can the Camp be deployed within the 2-4 BW section from the side edges even though it is not mentioned as being of an element type able to ?
Yes/No
Question 2, Can a Camp be placed on a Waterway ?
ie The Camp is placed entirely on the waterway as the rules state "or on a waterway "
Yes/No
