To answer your question you need to look at page 6 under Area Terrain Features where it states: "An element only partly in GOOD GOING is treated as in the other going." Well spotted Keith. This should be placed in the FAQ immediately Joe. Thanks

Had a situation today as Cavalry C contacting Auxilia Z in the flank. Fig 10 page 20. The Cavalry had plenty of movement available but could not slide into contact with the Auxilia's corner due to friends in combat.
We played it that the Auxilia turned to line up with the Cavalry.
Was this correct ?
Thanks

I think that this is the problem with this suggestion. It also makes 4 Ax very strong against warband. Joe Collins They were were they not ? Always in front of the Legions.

What about this 4Ax 3 v Mounted, 4 v Foot ? No change to 3Ax combat factor but the 1Bw recoil ?
Simple.

Under 2.2 a straight Knight vs Blade matchup was (roughly) 42% Kill vs 17% Tie (lock) vs 36% Recoil vs 6% Kill Under 3.0 this has shifted to 42% Kill vs 36% Recoil vs 22% Kill. In essence the Blade now has over 3x the chance of killing the Knight in version 3 over 2.2. Further, this takes away the chance of committing a knight general to such a charge. I would further argue that the loss of rear support is a benefit to knights. Knights now recoil vs Solid infantry on a tie (well, not Blades)... this is huge change. A knight charge vs a wall of Spear is now a very bloody and risky endeavor. Joe Collins Bring back the Tactical Factor, +1 Knights charging straight ahead into contact against Sp & Bd in Good Going. Must be straight ahead and would not count for other contacts such as pursuit.

No, I plan to write them with Phil (if he is able), Sue and hopefully others.
Joe Collins
Joe why would Phil not be 'able' ?
Have enjoyed reading all five pages, many good ideas.
Here is a suggestion for the Aux question, give 4Ax +1 Flank Support in Good Going if supported by Pk, Bd or Sp, if in Bad or Rough Going +1 if supported by 4Ax.

Page 8, "Command distance is........., on a Difficult Hill, or in or beyond a Wood,Oasis or Dunes"
If part of a base is "on" a difficult hill or "in" a wood, oasis or dune, is the base within 8 Bw or 4 Bw Command Distance ?
i.e. the base is half in good going and half in an oasis and the General is 6 Bw away and has a direct line of sight to the base does it cost 1 or 2 pips to move?
Thanks Brian

What is a command's Army Break Points worth ?
The rule book states " An army whose cumulative total of lost elements .........etc" DBA v3 page 13
Does 'cumulative' apply to elements lost in the battle or the theoretical maximum of the Command's Value ?
A command of 12 elements of LH and a Cavalry General loses 7 LH elements and is Lost / Removed.
What is the Command worth in Army Break points, 13, 14, 15 ?
13, the number of elements in the command 14, includes the General ( who was not lost during the battle ) 15, includes the Camp ( which was not looted/lost during the Battle ) 16, if there was a double element included in the command of 13 elements
Thanks

Makes sense to me when spelt out in such a manner. I was always under the impression that the base had to be astride the road at the start of the movement phase before multiple road moves could begin.

Rear Support Factors mentions ........."and the element is entirely in good going" This, I am sure, applies to all combats so the Knight would be -2.

Cv A fights LH Z. LH Y is not an overlap as it is not in front corner to corner contact. However, if LH Z wins by any score, Cv A is destroyed as it has enemy in front contact with it flank. Do I have this correct? This question has yet to be answered. I think that the Cav is destroyed myself.

"Recoiling or pushed back elements move straight back without turning" Bob the Auxilia was shot from partially behind so first turns 180 then recoils.

Had a situation today where an Aux was shot at from partially to its rear with a recoil result inflicted. The Aux turned 180 and recoiled, this left its side edge touching the front edge of a Cav General. The left front corner of the Cav General was lined up with the left front corner of the Aux.
Question: Does the Aux conform to the Cav General immediately and fight a close combat in the combat phase?
