Won't be making an appearance this year. Family holidays have taken preference on my leave balance. Hopefully it goes ahead with all this Covid hullaballoo.

This is one that I thought I knew the answer to - it's quite simple, but I have a memory of someone telling me at a tournament that I had it wrong.
When I attack a camp and win, I move a unit into the camp and the camp at that point is sacked, and counts as a unit lost for the enemy. I thought I could then take the unit that has sacked the camp and use it elsewhere in the battle. However I was told that I needed to keep that unit in the camp to claim the unit lost for the sacked camp.
What say you?

Crossfire is as awesome set of rules for WW2. Very unique and it doesn't have any specific scale.

Ok folks, I am interested to learn your thoughts on other rulesets. Tell me about ADLG, Sword and Spear, Sword Point and Impetus. Are they any good. What is feeling like playing them? Why do you prefer DBA?

Hey folks. I am travelling to San Diego for work this coming week. Are there any DBA gamers who meet in San Diego?

Yep my first Cancon and I'd put my thanks to the leadership team as well. Lots of fun and good stories to tell.

I have decided to award Tony Aguilar for his great efforts in putting a heap of quality DBA related videos together on You Tube, the honorary title of Praecō - herald.
Congrats Tony - keep up the good work!

This thread has been a fascinating read. And it seems that yet again we are caught by ambiguities in the rules as written and the need for an FAQ. I did a bit of a dig at how other systems manage this...comments following this disclaimer - I am not interested in a flame war about the merits of different wargaming systems especially given that I am about to launch into a discussion of "Triumph!" - the system that is at the root of the schism in the former DBA community. This is a DBA forum and the discussion is about DBA, but this is helpful in understand how other systems manage the issue when coming up with house rules...so in short, behave in the thread, or I will wield my admin stick Ok so lets look at 2 examples - Dux Bellorum and Triumph! Dux Bellorum (have played a few games but nothing involving a river at this point so based on my reading of the rules) - a River is an piece of terrain which impacts the movement of most troops (half of remaining movement allowance) and penalises combat when attacking shieldwall troops and mounted non-skirmishers. They also have the provision for a terrain element called a ford which can be placed on the river to mark a place where crossing can be achieved. Fords do not impact movement or combat. Triumph! (never played but have the rules and have read them) - Rivers are difficult terrain. Difficult terrain impacts movement and combat (-2 combat factor for any foot v other foot, -1 combat factor for all mounted). All rivers may have up to 2 crossing points - bridges or fords. These crossing points are treated as roads in that location. Roads purpose is to move troops through difficult terrain areas with no impact on combat. I have always thought that the idea of the river being an unknown variable until I try to cross it a bit of a weak point, as is the idea that the river is the same anywhere upon it's length. So I would love to see a ford be introduced - having 0, 1 or 2 on the river. These could mean you need to cross in column at that location for no impact to combat - and therefore at those points the rear support would count. I realise that nothing is going to change to rules as written, but maybe those ideas for house rules?

Welcome! I am an Aussie but located in Sydney. Just reconnecting myself in the past 6-12 months myself. There are a number of Aussies on here, not sure who might be from Melbourne. I am sure you will find it all still feels like DBA at the core but there are plenty of changes since v1. Enjoy!

OK so I thought I knew the answer to this but the question recently came up in a game and I am now second guessing.
I don't have my rules in front of me but they essentially say that the command distance is 20BW if entirely LH. Does that mean the entire army is LH or the entire group you are trying to give the order to? Or something else perhaps?
