You did a lovely job on the Cataphract metals, do you have a particular recipe? Thanks, Mark, for the kind words. Effectively, the metals were, firstly, AP SpeedPaint metallics, followed with a wash (black for silver and strong tone for bronze) to really max out the detail, then dry brushed silver/bronze to highlight. Legionaries fought with javelin and short sword and were able to adjust their formations for close-order protection or to move effectively across terrain. Legionaries should be 4Ax. This is an April Fool’s a month late, right… ?!! 😱😂😂😂 Please

For these tiny sizes, I've been happy enough with the metallics; I've primarily used Broadsword Silver for steel and Hoplite Gold for the...hoplites armor. Yes, it's a bit bright, but these are tiny figures and I'm satisfied with the result. I might try that bronze method for the last group of hoplites in my queue (II/5h Siciliots). I use a combination mix of 50:50 of the Hoplite Gold and the Hoard Bronze and this works a treat. P

A minor update on my latest experience. Following a recent recommendation from paulisper I got some metallic speed paint and on larger surfaces they are great I do believe on 15mm you don’t get the full benefit. Maybe shields will be better, at the moment (thanks to timr ) my preferred method for steel type armour is citadel’s rattling grime with a silver/chainmail drybrush/edge highlight. K At the moment, I’m adding a black wash to the silver SpeedPaint and then drybrushing with a standard Vallejo Steel. This really adds to the overall effect and is worth the added effort. I’m doing the same with Bronze, by washing with Strong Tone and then drybrushing - nice 😉 P

I saw that a big post was made in the FB groups regarding playtest sessions. Sounds like it's getting close, which is exciting. I now feel comfortable in DBA, and will be focusing on HOTT soon. I'll probably feel comfortable(-ish) just in time for this to arrive. We’re hoping to push for a late Spring/early Summer publication date 😎 P

Just finishing off basing the 2x4Kn for the LIR (East) and Tom’s complement will be done. Rather than crack on with my half, I thought I’d take a break from Romans and have begun work this afternoon on the 1/58 Meroitic Kushite, bought from Magister Militum last year as they began winding down their business.

Tightening up at the top, with Martin Myers making a big gain here and beginning to threaten the lead of Pete D.

Arrived today, a large batch of the new Army Painter Fanatic Warpaints… exciting times 🥳😝 P Paul, are these the new Speedpaints or the newer more solid pigment paints? Cheers, These are the new Fanatic range - base and highlights should be interesting with their new triad system and I’m looking forward to seeing how their reds and yellows perform. Lot of good previews on YouTube 👍 P
