II/69b Sassanid Persian Army (225 AD – 493 AD) remove II/80b Sabir Hunnic Army (515 AD – 558 AD) II/80b Sabir Hunnic Army (515 AD – 558 AD) remove II/69b Sassanid Persian Army (225 AD – 493 AD) (Although these two are listed as mutual enemies, their dates don’t match.)
The II/80d are the correct enemy for the Sassanid ‘b’ sub-list. The Sabir as enemy and ally should be entered on the Sassanid ‘c’ sub-list, so there are four actions that need to take place and these you noted below. Action: Remove II/80b Sabir Hunnic Army (515 AD – 558 AD) from II/69b Sassanid Persian Army (225 AD – 493 AD). Remove II/69b Sassanid Persian Army (225 AD – 493 AD) from II/80b Sabir Hunnic Army (515 AD – 558 AD).

II/69b Sassanid Persian Army (225 AD – 493 AD) remove as an Ally II/80b Sabir Huns(515 AD – 558 AD) II/69c Sassanid Persian Army (494 AD – 651 AD) change Ally from II/80 to II/80b Sabir Huns (515 AD – 558 AD) (In the first case the dates don’t match. In the second case which II/80 army is to be the ally?...I suspect it should be II/80b that was wrongly under II/69b)
Correct on both points and noted in the previous post. Action: Remove Ally II/80b Sabir Huns(515 AD – 558 AD) from II/69b Sassanid Persian Army (225 AD – 493 AD). Change Ally from II/80 to II/80b Sabir Huns (515 AD – 558 AD) for II/69c Sassanid Persian Army (494 AD – 651 AD).

II/69c Sassanid Persian Army (494 AD – 651 AD) remove II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) remove II/69c Sassanid Persian Army (494 AD – 651 AD) (Although these two are listed as mutual enemies, their dates don’t match.)
Correct as this may be another error created by expanding the Sassanid list. Action: Remove II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) from II/69c Sassanid Persian Army (494 AD – 651 AD). Remove II/69c Sassanid Persian Army (494 AD – 651 AD) from II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD.

This is it...the very last of the Book II errors:-II/80a Attila’s Army (433 AD – 453 AD) add II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) (Army II/82b lists II/80a as an enemy, but II/80a doesn’t mention II/82b) II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) change Ally II/40 to II/57 Later Moorish (25 AD – 696 AD) II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) change Ally II/72 to II/72d Other Early Franks (250 AD – 496 AD) II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) change Ally II/81c to II/81c Armoricans (429 AD – 580 AD) (The wrong Moorish allies: as II/40 ends in 24 AD, the ally should be II/57. Unless the II/82a West Patricians can have any of the II/72 armies as allies, I think it should be II/72d. Lastly, I assume the II/81c ally would be the Armoricans, as the British have their own problems...what with leaving the EU and all...) II/83a Later Visigothic Army (419 AD - 621 AD) remove II/78a Western Late Romans (307 AD – 408 AD) (Army II/83a lists II/78a as an enemy, but II/78a doesn’t mention II/83a, and the dates don’t match.) II/83a Later Visigothic Army (419 AD - 621 AD) change enemy II/81c to II/81c Armoricans (429 AD – 580 AD) (I assume that the Visigoths never invaded Brtiain.) II/83a Later Visigothic Army (419 AD – 621 AD) add II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) (Army II/82b lists II/83a as an enemy, but II/83a doesn’t mention II/82b) III/1c Southern Slavs (476 AD – 896 AD) add II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) (Army II/82b lists III/1c as an enemy, but III/1c doesn’t mention II/82b) Page 5 has been updated: fanaticus.boards.net/thread/603/historical-opponents?page=5&scrollTo=4419---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, every single army, enemy, ally, and date in Book II has been thoroughly checked. Book III is next.Bold Stevie is now boldly moving on to boldly go where he has boldly been before... ...boldly.

Correct. For the earlier battles the ‘d’ sub-lists should be use. Action: Remove II/80a Attila’s Army (433 – 453 AD) from II/65b Early Visigothic Army (200 AD – 407 AD). Remove II/65b Early Visigothic Army (200 AD – 407 AD) from II/80a Attila’s Army (433 – 453 AD).

Correct. These were mutual enemies under the older version. The mix up came about with the change of list number (old II/83a to new II/82a). Action: Add II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) to II/72b Alamanni Army (250 AD – 506 AD).

Not really mutual enemies, but this is related to the previous problem; change of list number. Action: Remove II/83b Later Visigothic Army (622 AD – 720 AD) from II/80b Sabir Huns (515 AD – 558 AD). Remove II/80b Sabir Huns (515 AD – 558 AD) from II/83b Later Visigothic Army (622 AD – 720 AD).

This was another crisis period for Honorius; Constantine III and other usurpers in Gaul. Action: Add II/78a Western Late Romans (307 AD – 408 AD) to II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD).

Correct. The ally should read II/70a Army of the Burgundi Action: Change II/70 to II/70a Burgundi for II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD).

Correct. Attila crossed the Danube on two occasions and laid siege to a number of cities. Action: Add II/82b Eastern Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) to II/80a Attila’s Army (433 AD – 453 AD).

II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) change Ally II/40 to II/57 Later Moorish (25 AD – 696 AD)
The Numidian and Early Moors (II/40) is clearly a mistake.
The Later Moors however would become an ally of the African Vandals after 442 AD. Between 408 and 442. I can find no evidence of Heraclianus enlisting the aid of Later Moors during his revolt nor Bonifacius (magister militum per Africam) brief revolt in 427. The Vandals cross from Spain to Africa in 429. After 442, the Vandals foil Basilicus’ attempt at re-conquest. Action: Delete II/40 Numidian and Early Moors 215 BC – 24 AD from II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD).

II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD) change Ally II/72 to II/72d Other Early Franks (250 AD – 496 AD)
Correct. The Franks of the left bank (Rhine) were federate of the Western Empire before this period and would remain so throughout this period. Action: Change Ally II/72 to II/72d Other Early Franks (250 AD – 496 AD) for II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD).

True, the dates do not match, but this may be an error due to the change in list number (old to new). Action: Remove II/78a Western Late Romans (307 AD – 408 AD) from II/83a Later Visigothic Army (419 AD - 621 AD).

Understood. If you look at II/5k Spartan overseas, you will note a handy reference to which general an ally should serve under [ in brackets ]. The separation of enemies and/or allies might follow a similar method of notation and [Amr] Action: Change Ally II/81c to II/81c [Amr] for II/82a Western Patrician Romans (408 AD – 493 AD).
