I've just received the email alert that Forged in Battle has just expanded their ancients significantly. I don't know how they do it! The now offer an expanded Early Imperial Roman line but of greater interest to Late Roman, Dark Ages, gamers they offer the following: PICTS: this includes the illusive Atecotti Fanatics (and they do look fanatical) SCOTS-IRISH: incl a Dal Riatan mercenary warband early SAXONS and they're beginning to populate a Vandal, Visigoth, Ostrogoth line. (heater shield infantry) I also urge you to navigate to the "Generals and Officers" tab. There are 17 sets ranging from Achaemenid to Gallic/British and Republican Rome era. The British have some very dramatic chariot pieces. The German generals (among others) look like they can do double duty on the HotT battlefields as well. Putting my order together now. Cheers A link

For those who are particularly interested in the Late Roman period, I understand there are plans for a third Kickstarter to fund a further expansion of the range to include Late Romans and SRB figures. However, they have said that this is unlikely to happen until towards the end of this year - and my own guess is that it could well slip into 2018.

I've not seen any War & Empire figures yet. They look terrific on their website, but I've heard they're really, really big. How do they compare in heft and height, for example, to Essex 15s? If they've contracted a terminal case of Scale-Creep (e.g. Xyston), personally, I would just refuse to support them. But if they're roughly compatible with most current 15mm ranges, I'll be very interested in building a Spartacus army from their range.

I have chariot models for my British and Pictish tribes and find them compatible to Essex. The foot and riders will match Old Glory, but the horses are slightly smaller.
I have been debating the purchase of Classical Indians.

Salutations, gentlefolk !
I possess but one package of FiB figures - WE-GE4 - German Warband #2, Jav/Sh inc Cmd. Nevertheless, am giving you my quite arrogant opinions.
FiB cost 1 1/2 times as much as Old Glory - $15 for 25 v $10 for 24 at Cold Wars.
As _sculpture_, OG much superior - almost as if their sculptor worked from live models and FiB from photos. Had deflashed and primed the two packages at same time, on workbench side by side, thought 'five bucks misspent...'
But when FiB figures painted up, looked pretty darn good.
Much variety in FiB package: Std Bearer Trumpeter 4 unique figures w sword 2 identical w sword 17 spear carriers, 6 types, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2 of each
Couple of figures with sword & seperate shield - needed to replace peg on back of shield with bit of toothpick to get them to fit properly.
Have OG, Essex, FiB figures in my E German DBA army, along with some old Minifigs (?) (Walk thru the flea market at Cold Wars, chanting "Heah's fawty shillin' awn the druum…" and you get some recruits of obscure background.) Fit together pretty well in same army, but I've put different manufacturers on seperate stands.
Pictures to follow. Yours, John Desmond

Personally, I would like to see some of the less well represented eras and armies.
Quite a few manufacturers already do these lines. There might well be some other lines that could generate comparable sales due to lesser competition.

John, thanks so much for the useful pictures. My old eyes see them as quite compatible but why pay one and a half times as much?
such large numbers in a package is a problem too. 24 escape gladiators for Spartacus, you only need eight :-(
