Looks like a fun one. Thanks Bill for the announcement, and Arnaud for the theme. Now just need to work out the logistics of Alton-LHR to collect Ash-Alton-Pompey that day......

Thanks for this and in the diary. After growing the 11thcentuary armies, definitely do not have any of these. Do PAWS have any house armies available? Thanks Peter

Thanks Peter Not for this period (except a handful of Elamite HCh & 3Bw). But no one will complain if you use something like Seleucid SCh and 4Pk as Sumerian HCh & 4Pk

Well, my Sumerians are about 700 years out of date. But my Martu (1/6a) might be able to have a go. What sort of time does it normally finish up? Fairly long drive for me.

'Normal' timings are :- register about 13:00, start about 13:15-13:30. (Throw dice out of window 13:45....😱🎲🎲🎲🎲😤) , then the final usually finished by about 17:30 - 18:00. Timing on the final varies, depending how much 'thinking time' is allowed. The initial rounds are fast n furious, about 40 minutes each, which sort of works under v3.

Thanks Peter Peter, I'd offer, but at the moment I'm not certain I'll make the start time myself..... Maybe nearer the date I may be able to find an army for loan, and a way to get it to the venue. Had a full 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. day of Biblical fun with these Spring PAWS theme armies yesterday, hosted by Claudius Gothicus at his Summer Palace (now the 365 days a year palace, but doesn't have the same 'ring' to it... ). All twelve armies saw service, and there were some 'interesting' results. I have a graphic and enduring memory of a line of Guti or Zagros highlanders contacting my early Libyans (Ax variant) and dicing me into a 6-0 slaughter in the single first bound of combat (low factors = dangerous territory). Also of watching early Syrians, generalled by a certain Hittite I know, with 9 psiloi (!) defeat a pike-heavy Sumerian or Akkadian army....all sorts of convoluted melee mayhem. (Bring back the early Libyan 11 x 2Ps list, I say ) Managed to let my Early Egyptians lose to hordes of Libyan hordes, the Libyan bowmen doing most or all of the killing, while the 6 x 5Hd just kept my main battle-line very busy HCh seemed a mixed blessing, and a few HCh generals graced the 'dead pile', though one did steamroller my 4Bd Pharaoh. Enjoyed running out the Nubians, though with limited success- the 2 x Wb proving handy, but too few in numbers. Not a single road graced the terrain all day, and only a couple of hamlets and a fort. Waterways aplenty, and all sorts of scrubby, rocky realistic stuff. Not many arable terrains in use, little evidence of ploughing. Only one gully, which proved to be a handy learning item. This will be another fun theme, I think, and the predominance of troops with low combat factors may see some dramatic and unpredictable results. Martin ps- 'phippsy', as you can see, we managed to cobble representations of all armies between us, and we should be able to come up with something for loan, but I can't guarantee to make the tournament on time at the moment.....update nearer the date??

(Bring back the early Libyan 11 x 2Ps list, I say ) Oh no. The 6 Hd plus 5 Ps version is much more fun.

Thanks Peter Peter, I'm in the throws of sorting an army out for my DNA-sharing Attilathenun colleague, after which I should be able to offer you a choice. I'll sift through my biblicals this afternoon (oooh, Matron ), and PM you off list with a few choices, assuming you're still interested in playing. I'm due to clash with Colin the Hittite next week- which means I can pass him the army you pick, and then he'll bring it along (in case I get delayed on an airport run to collect pseudo-Geordie daughter.). cheers Martin

Got a feeling that those who competed at the recent Northern Cup may have an advantage here - 8 of those armies were in use then

Anticipating a rollercoaster ride of deadly dice-defined fun. M
