Shields done.
The Praetorians were last and involved a bit more detail than the previous 40 legionnaires. Later today, I will base the figures and make a start on the auxilia infantry.

Six elements of mounted are done bringing the total completed to 28.
The last step are the command figures. From the pack, I will have one mounted general and two on foot with a fourth to be based as a CP for special scenarios requiring an inert commander.
Painting begins tomorrow.

While on the subject of dismounting, we plan a Dark Age historical scenario for next week, the Battle of Mortemer 1054 (early years of William the Conqueror). Extra features were added to cover the time of day and the length of the engagement. These will be posted to the blog Tuesday, followed by a report with photos a few days later. Tonight we resume further play testing. Norman victory conditions remain unchanged, however, those for the French Royal army have been modified. Animated presentation by History Marche. Battle of Mortemer can be followed from the 12.30 mark. www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4rqKnxkDpM

The Blue Moon Sarmatians have been posted to the blog. My previous experience assembling upper torsos of cavalry figures were the Later Moorish cavalry from Lurkio. Fiddley, very fiddley. These were cast with ample pins making assembly a snap. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/04/sarmatians.html

The Early Imperial Roman are up at the blog. Photos of the legionnaires, praetorians, auxiliary cavalry and infantry plus generals can be viewed plus a brief text. The artillery were a last minute addition. Still lacking the kontos armed cavalry (2 x 3Kn), these will need to be conversions as currently available models have shields. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/04/early-imperial-rome.html

Finished two commands of Nomad Arab (II/23a), each of 2 x LH (+ general), 4 x Cm, 1 x LCm, 3 x 4Bd, 1 x 3Bw, 1 x Ps.
Colour variation is subtle, but distinct enough to tell sheep sheepherders from the camel breeders.

Rome vs the Alamanni, Between painting sessions, I will take the opportunity to put the Early Imperial Romans through their paces. Photos and a brief report will be posted to the blog, each will have a summary noting what works well and what does not. The notations are meant as a handy reference for the author as at my age I can easily overlook the obvious and blunder a move. There are fourteen opponents planned, full list can be found by clicking on the ‘index’ at the right side of the page. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/04/roman-tour-alamanni.html

Rome vs. the Marcomanni
The Roman touring side continue their matches, this time against the Marcomanni. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/04/roman-tour-marcomanni.htmlRoman artillery are becoming a joy to work with, that may change when the kontos armed cavalry arrive with the next order.
