Blue Moon Sarmatians
These were purchased to fill out the heavy cavalry element of the Alani.
Horses come in three gaits making a lively group when based. Like Lurkio castings, the rider's upper torso is separate allowing variation of pose. Best of all, the bow cases are separate.
Adding a small shield, these could pass as heavy cavalry of other nations.

Behind each case is a pin allowing an easy fit with the model. Undercoating later tonight.

The figures are ready for the final stage, detailing.

No sooner are the Sarmatian finished, but I regret not having bought a second pack.
Regardless, done and now varnished. Basing later tonight.

Late yesterday, an order with Old Glory US arrived. Among the packs ordered were the archers for Emesa.
These were promptly cleaned, filed and undercoated.
Today, 24 archers are ready for a varnish and though I need only 15 for the army, 9 will be used elsewhere.

Extra elements will serve as the civic militia for the Parthian. Today will be spent inspecting and sorting the Romans for cleaning and painting.

Thursday was spent cleaning, filing and undercoating 48 legionnaires. By Friday, all were base coated for clothing, armour, skin and weapons. The task was made easy with fewer figures placed per paint plinth.
Today, detailing 16 figures from head to toe, the rest are stored out of sight. Shield patterns tomorrow.
I found a unique page with photos of shields reconstructed by reenactment groups. Photos include all the legions, many auxilia and the praetorians
