At the blog you can read a short list of projects planned for 2023. With the departure of many armies, I have managed to cobble new and different ones to take their place. The Late Judaeans (II/51) follow the Nabataeans (II/22a), but like the latter, they lack the odd one or two elements to complete. These have been ordered. Noticeable, is the number of Roman armies leaving, that I have decided to fill that vacancy with two commands of Early Imperial Roman. These should stem the tide of migrating coconuts. Link might help. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/01/project-2023.html

Commagene
Three elements (1 x 4Kn, 1 x 4Ax, 1 x Ps) are done and a further five elements are on the table for this week.
The Commagene lack their archers, these should soon arrive from TimeCast UK. Hopefully, the Royal Mail problems, delaying international shipping, will be solved soon.
In the meantime, I will continue piecing together another enemy for the EIR.

Photos and a brief text of the Nabataean and Late Judaean will be posted tomorrow. The Commagene are done, but lack archers.
From the box of extras, work has begun on a fourth army, Emesa. Found a number of interesting articles (pdf) online, that make this a worthwhile opponent for the above.
Archers will be ordered on Old Glory (US) along with the Pre-Islamic Arab.

Time well spent today.
Converted and painted 41 assorted figures for the Jewish Revolt. Detailing the figures will begin tomorrow.
Three packs are needed to complete two commands with all options. This will wait as one of my two orders has cleared customs. Should arrive early this coming week.

Gathering armies for the next sale, I discovered in other boxes enough archers and cataphract to complete the Commagene. These are now painted and boxed with the Late Judaean and Nabataean.

While on the subject of dismounting, we plan a Dark Age historical scenario for next week, the Battle of Mortemer 1054 (early years of William the Conqueror).
Extra features were added to cover the time of day and the length of the engagement. These will be posted to the blog Tuesday, followed by a report with photos a few days later.

Ah, the Commagenes, one of my fave armies that I don't (yet) own. What figure range(s) did you use? Stunning bannner. What's the story there? Who's the Big Shot depicted on the Labarum?

The figures were cobbled together from the remnants of sold armies. The two blade are OG Polybian allied hastati, cataphract from their Seleucid range and archers I believe are Palmyran. The auxilia are Essex Maccabean. The labarum was also salvaged and could represent Mithras or any one of the short reigning kings of the 1st century AD.

The Batavi
20 elements of Batavi infantry are done, based, flocked and ready for battle. Roman deserters (6 x 4Ax) were done a while back, now fill out the two commands.
Two command elements are the final step to completing the collection. Suitable figures have been found, but will need new paint and rebasing.
Photos will be posted when the lot is completed. ‘

We played two test games last night, both narrow victories for Robert, count of Eu. Some minor points need revising to tidy up the game, these will be tested during our next session planned for 4 April. A fully tested scenario will be posted later that week.
