Kings and Generals latest – Battle of Formigny 1450.
The battle was not too much different form the scenario presented in January of this year; the rebellious French peasants did not make an appearance. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGkb4OOoUH4Castillon is next.

Viewing the latest Kings and Generals video, ‘Elite and Levy Units of the Eastern Roman Army’, prompted thought how most of us select the ‘ideal’ element and avoid levy units.
Tony organises theme games with horde a requirement, but the question is directed to the general membership –
“If listed as an option, do you select them for your army?”

When I first started playing I wanted to avoid using them, but now I love having them in an army.
I find they are like slow moving walls, and use them to split up the battlefield.

6 x 5Hd in the Early Libyan are fun , kill half the army for no elements counting as lost .

I had the same hesitancy to select horde types over other optional troops, that changed while expanding the Late Medieval collection.
Solid horde, were not all peasant levy, but we also find feudal retinue, the arriere-ban and even pikemen (see IV/82b).
Now, even Alaric has freed ex-slaves (7Hd).

Does this qualify the Russians and Swedes as mutual enemies?lol

Let me think.
1495 Invasion of southern Finnland by Russians. 1495 Russian siege of Vyborg is unsuccessful. 1496 Russian campaign of destruction along southern Finnland the following year. 1496-7 Swedes retaliate and invade Russian Karelia. 1508 Peace is resolved between Sweden and Moscow.
No. No need, but the war will continue with the invasion of Karelia.

Focused on the construction of ships for this week. Six single mast types are nearly done, now the sails.
A write up and photos will follow.

An update.
My collection of Colonial Sudanese have been an excellent source for a number of Muslim armies; Zanj (1x), Tuareg (2x) and Islamic Berber (2x).
Chipping further away, I am currently working on two commands of Beja and horde (4 x 7Hd, 4 x 5Hd) for the Syrian and Dynastic Bedouin.

Chipping further away, I am currently working on two commands of Beja and horde (4 x 7Hd, 4 x 5Hd) for the Syrian and Dynastic Bedouin. 62 Beja infantry (Bd, Aux, Bw and Ps) are ready for an undercoat. Monday, I will begin painting.

The 62 Beja infantry are on their bases (8 x 3Bw, 6 x 3Ax, 4 x 4Bd, 2 x Ps) and texturing will begin when the cavalry are painted up.
Work has begun preparing and cleaning 32 Arab and Beja cavalry, undercoating later tonight.

Searching the net for suitable banners or flags is posing a slight problem. By the end of the 5th century, Makuria converted to Christianity (see Christian Nubian list) followed by Nobatia and Alodia. Christianity did reach the nomadic Beja but lacking permanent settlements, one could not truly say they were “washed in the blood of the lamb”. Suggestions for flags/banners are welcome.
