French Ordonnance are done and the infantry of the Italian Condotta are now painted. That leaves the Italian artillery and cavalry to do. Both armies will need flags and banners, 8 for the French and 9 for the Italian.

...could be quite intresting, your interpratation of a late german army. With Triumph termsthis era are the German princes... Vodnik I plan to double the size of the Medieval German so there will be a greater representation of municipalities and royal houses.

The Italian Condotta lack only the general’s element, this will be painted today. Tomorrow, the flags and banners for both armies.

Flags for the French Ordonnance and Italian Condotta are done.
To be efficient I combined the two sets as colours and patterns were similar, but therein lay the problem. The painting tempo crawled as I had to be careful not to mix patterns or colours for the 21 flags and banners.
Photos should be posted this Friday. Late Medieval Germans next with a double helping of landsknechts.

Nice upgrade.
Although a couple of Burgundians seem to have slipped into that French lot...

Rightly so and historically accurate. Burgundy’s last attempt at independence ended with Charles the Bold and Louis XI of France declared the duchy extinct and a domain of the French crown.

I have 48 Landsknecht and light horse (8 x 4Pk, 4 x Ps, 2 x 3Bd, 1 x LH) completely covered with a ground colour ending phase 1. Highlighting is next and this will be fun as painting a different colour on a dark background can alter the overall effect. The goal is to create as many unique looking pieces as possible.

Ah, was going by the Purple army list which carries the Burgundians out to 1506.
And then puts them into the Habsburg camp.
Looking forward to seeing the next lot.

Ah, was going by the Purple army list which carries the Burgundians out to 1506. And then puts them into the Habsburg camp. Looking forward to seeing the next lot. Through its long history, Burgundian possessions outside the duchy had become scattered throughout the Low Countries. This map shows best the partition of lands between France and the Empire. The mounted crossbowmen are done as is one plinth of 12 Landsknecht; a mix of pike, harquebus and doppelsolden. The Legio Heroica are a pleasure to paint and being newly released figures are crisp castings.
Three more strips to do then the Imperial Knights are next.

The Landsknecht: 38 detailed, 10 remain to do.
Through an email exchange with Giuseppe (Legio Heroica) I learned the Landsknecht do have a sash around their waist. This is masked by the position of the hands in front and appears as a decorative belt at the back of the figure. It seems I have some extra work to do for tomorrow.
Between painting sessions, I have found flags and coat of arms for the two duchies these commands will represent.

Medieval German Landsknecht infantry are done, bases textured, painted and flocked which leave the mounted next.
These will not require much work, but the look of their armour will be improved and leather harnesses for the mounts will have a greater range of colour. .
These commands will represent two northern German states who were at odds with one another or with their neighbours Denmark, Sweden and Poland.

Just finished the last details for 33 Medieval German cavalry. The delay was not caused by any difficulty, though 4 x 6Kn did demand some care, but additional research of the late 15th century northern German States between paint sessions.
I became so absorbed with my reading and taking notes that my painting tempo slowed to a crawl. Hoeveer, from the notations there is enough material to design some interesting scenarios based on historical events.
Back to painting, there are 14 German flags that need doing and that should keep me busy for the next few days.

Be interesting to see the flags - I have also been doing some browsing lately to see what devices are available for various urban militias.
Easy to get sidetracked looking at histories, etc.
