Painting the flags and gonfalons for Brandenburg and Pommern is postponed as I am finding the 13d sub-list best simulates the Imperial armies of Maximilian’s foreign adventures and less so for the internal squabbling between the duchies and counties. Duncan Head wrote a fine article with an army list for the Duchy of Utrecht covering the civil wars of the same period (up to 1518).
The IV/13c sub-list could extend to 1518 with some minor adjustment and this will be covered in detail on a separate post. Of course, this will require additional elements to be painted.
The 24 elements that are now done will carry the Imperial banners of Maximilian.

The computer for the past two days was in the shop for an upgrade.
This meant an undisturbed period of painting completing 2 x crossbow mounted Cv and rearmed eighteen Sp with pike to field as 2 x feudal retainers pikemen (Hd) mounted on 40mm x 40mm bases.
The above will allow for an expansion of the “Imperial” Medieval German IV/13d to cater for those led by feudal, city or clerical generals of the internal conflicts within the empire.
Flags will be added tomorrow and hopefully photos will be posted later this week.

Thank you Paul and Snowcat ,
As a change of pace the Free Canton of Ditmarschen is next. This will be an opportunity to use my Milliput skills by adding fur caps, cloaks and possibly a plume or two.
For the opposition, I have four packs of unpainted Landsknechts and half will be painted as the Friesian Black Band for the Kalmar Union.

Free Canton of Dithmarschen
Figures for the Free Canton are all Legion Heroica but a mix of Burgundian, Swiss and peasants from their Feudal range. The latter were rearmed with long spear and all 33 figures are now based forming 12 elements of 9 x 3Pk and 3 x Ps. For all my research I could find no mention of Frisian dardiers (4Ax) so these were omitted, however, I did find a banner for Dithmarschen.

The Dithmarschen flag now graces the command element. Photos will be posted tomorrow to the blog.
Polish infantry and light horse are now on the work bench. These are 2 x town militia (8Cb), 2 x murderous rustics (3Bd) and 6 x LH which are the start of a double size army.

Later Polish
Eight elements (2 x 8Cb, 2 x 3Bd, 4 x LH) of infantry and cavalry have been undercoated. Painting them will begin tomorrow.
The past few days were spent swapping weapons, adding spears and a variety of caps and fur hats were added using Milliput.

The latest batch are knights (3Kn) mounted on fully armoured horse. Among the six elements are two generals one of which is the mounted Landsknecht general who could easily pass as Henry on his continental tour. Tomorrow, I will begin detailing horse armour.
