To my knowledge, Stevie's name was Stephen Andrews. His last post on this forum was Oct 26, 2023. He attended the Bakewell tournament. The reason I've been asking if Fanaticus' Stevie was from Alsager, Cheshire is because it's an hour's drive from Bakewell, and on 14 November 2023, a Stephen Andrews of Alsager, Cheshire passed away suddenly. funeral-notices.co.uk/notice/andrews/5157505If this is a different Stevie (and someone here must surely know), then I will be greatly relieved. (My apologies for posting this kind of join-the-dots information, as I know how hurtful it could be irrespective of whether it is correct or not. I certainly miss communicating with Stevie. He will always be the heart and soul of this forum. I would love for *our* Stevie to suddenly pop in and declare, "No, old chap, I'm afraid that's not me - there's only one Stevie and I'm very much alive, thank you!") Well, in the meantime I'm convinced that this is not only coincidence. And that we must face the fact that we've lost a great fellow gamer, quick witted, humorous and always helpful. I really am happy that I met him here on this forum and that we shared some ideas...

The only other thing that crossed my mind is that he left in a huff over some aspect of the development of DBF. Crossed words, that sort of thing. (It's happened before.)
But I think that's highly unlikely (and easily dismissed if untrue), which brings us back to the sobering alternative.

I have done a bit of detective work and tracked down a Stephen Andrew’s who is a consultant with a company called Gaming Inc. which is in Nottinghamshire. His LinkedIn account has no activity showing but I have sent a message to this chap via LinkedIn to see if it is Stevie. I will update if I hear more.

Good one Cromwell. His photo is also available off one of the links I posted in this thread. His name being Stephen Andrews I first found here: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/fanaticus-dba/images/8/8e/Hint_Cards_for_DBA_3.0.pdf/revision/latest?cb=20190210013111Surname confirmed from tournaments he attended.
Weirdly, that Gaming Consultants Inc. is based in the US... "Gaming Consultants, Inc. is dedicated to provide the finest gaming, hospitality, and entertainment in Washington state.
From modest beginnings in 1998, the Silver Dollar Family of Casinos has grown to become the largest mini casino chain in the state of Washington. It began with the Silver Dollar Casino in Tukwila in August 1998, and has since grown to four Silver Dollar Casinos located in Mill Creek, Renton, and Sea-Tac. In September 2001, the casino family expanded by adding the Golden Nugget casino in Tukwila. A year later in March 2002, the Golden Nugget casino in Shoreline was acquired. In 2006, the Royal Casino in Everett was purchased, and the newest additions to the casino family were the Drift on Inn and Hollywood casinos in Shoreline, which were added during 2007. There are currently 9 casinos owned and operated by Gaming Consultants, Inc."
Doesn't sound right to me.
Cheers

I have sent personal messages asking if he is okay but to no response as yet. Same. I found that out but the business address was Nottinghamshire so perhaps another organisation. I also saw the obituary mentioned for Stephen Andrews just hope that was not him.

I doubt getting in a huff would have even slowed him down, last orders being called early would have.

If you want to at least put your mind at rest you could try contacting the Funeral Directors and send them a photo? They may be able to confirm or deny at least. You could also run into Data Protection or some such, but if you explain your concerns etc you never know.

That's a good idea. Probably more appropriate to come from someone who knew Stevie better than me.
